Guess what gender

Hi there,
We have these 2 beautiful 12 week olds - speckled sussex & buff orpington - to add to our flock.
The sussex is just so tame & sweet but its tail plumage is looking suspect for a rooster...so throwing it out there to the collective wisdom please. Our kids love this bird, so I'm hoping, hoping there's a chance it could be a hen.
The orpington is just huge with massive trunks for legs compared to the sussex at its tail plumage is looking a little untidy, it went through a short aggressive phase, but has gotten over that, so no idea there.
