guess what i found out about express mail!!

Junebug ~ it depends. You'll have to ask the seller what the clerk gurantees them. I'm guessing 2 day from TX to VA, but I'm no expert. I just work for the P.O as a measly rural carrier!

june i'm not sure this is the first i have had anything express shipped in. just got a reply from the breeder it says-

I will check with them on Wed. They are closed tomorrow and I will be shipping out somemore birds then. I did check the ticket and it said next day so you should get your money back on the shipping.

i had asked her if they refunded the money if i bought a few more birds if she would use it towards the shipping and cost of them and i could paypal the difference and she said yes. so i will keep u posted how things go.

From my experiences with shipping Express, it will depend on what they mark on the shipping receipt when the package is shipped. The PO clerk should also tell you, verbally, what the guarantee delivery time and date is. If they guarantee it next day, it must arrive by the guaranteed time (for example, by noon or 3pm). However, most Express packages are only guaranteed 2nd day by noon or 3pm. I always inform my buyer what the guarantee was when I ship, so they can let me know and I can follow up on the refund for them if the guarantee is not met.

Yeah, overnight Express delivery is only guaranteed to certain places (usually major shipping hubs) at certain distances. Remote areas (either the departure place or destination) can only get 2 day guarantee.

Ok, here is a question for you? You said you got the birds and they fine? COrrect? So why screw the USPS for a refund?! I can't stand when people take TOTAL advantage of the system! Its there as a safety net, but your "product" the birds were fine. ALL this does is raise the prices for all of us in the long run!

lol, u sound like ur a postal worker. because they didn't fullfill there part of the garontee and as a business it is their policy and they r responsible to back that product and service i paid for and they didn't do that.

I actually agree with you and I am a postal worker. That is what the gurantee is for. It is the only service that we offer a gurantee or your money back with. And yes, as a postal worker, if I sent something Express and it didn't get there in the alotted time that they told me it was, I'd get my money back. No doubt.

Because they made a promise (guarantee) to have the package there within a specified amount of time. If it isn't, they will refund your price. It's not taking advantage of the system. Express Mail typically costs $55.00. That's not chump change. The PO has to be held accountable for their business practices, just like any other business. Fuel prices are way down...have they lowered their shipping prices??? NO!!!!

whew! This is something! I am learning a lot though. Thanks

Actually if the item you are sending is perishable, they will also refund your purchase price up to $100 if it is no longer good. This is the insurance that comes with the Express shipping charges. If you would have had dead chicks, they would have refunded the cost of the dead.
The only thing is they will not refund for damaged eggs, but they will refund for delayed shipping on eggs. Only if you buy Express shipping. Priority is not guaranteed and they will not refund Priority shipping costs unless the package is lost. They wait 30 days and if it doesn't get to the addressed, they will refund your shipping only if you bought delivery confirmation. I personally have had eggs get delivered on the 29th day before.
