Guess what I found today!!!

5 eggs!!!

I went out this morning to change the water and straw in the coop, opened up the nest box fulling expecting it to be full of poop. (I had it boarded up until last Friday.) And there were 5 perfect little brown eggs!!!! My first eggs!!! They are smallish. A little smaller than a medium sized egg. I didn't think they would start laying for at least a few more weeks!

I proceeded to pick up and kiss every one of my chickens and thank them. After I finished my chores I went in and called everyone I know!! Doubters!! I have been teased mercilessly since I brought home my chicks. (I grew up in town and had never even seen a chicken in real life until then.) Well, except at the local fair. MY PET MAKES ME BREAKFAST!!!!

Congrats!! It's always nice to come on here and have people who TOTALLY understand the excitement of eggs, and obsession with our feathered friends. I think pretty much everyone I know thinks I'm insane for talking about my chickens all the time. Not saying I'm sane by any stretch of the imagination.
