Ask at a grocery store or walmart. A pumpkin box would also work. I think I’ll see if I can’t snag one myself. I’ve never thought of it before.

I made mine from plywood sides and different sized dowel rods. I got the idea from something Mypetchicken.com sells. I own a repair/upholstery shop, so I had tons of scrap wood laying around

Orps get speckling, but that's not even speckling.

Give them time... You know I know nothing of BOs, but chicks can always surprise us. No matter what they are they are still so very cute.

I have never, ever seen that amount of colour on a BO, but I usually hatch my own birds, so I haven't seen many different...lines, if you like.
Actually I thought at first the speckling on the head wasn't very BO.
Although it's the typical place to get speckling it was super black. Most of the speckling I see is light brown.

I'd be interested to see if they moult it out.
That foot colour has gotta change a whole lot too.

I did get rid of those chicks.

I also ordered from a different hatchery, and got 8 buff Orpington pullets, 5 NH red pullets, and 5 straight run NH red.

The buff orps already have BUFF colored feathers coming in! Eek!!

I was a bit disappointed that there was no heat pack put in the shipping box and the bedding was like a nest liner that couldn’t be moved so they couldn’t huddle up in it. It was chilly these past few days too. But oh well, they all arrived safely. There’s one I don’t expect to make it as it’s constantly sleepy. But that’s what happens in getting birds shipped right?

Yes I got rid of the others. Thanks!! I hope the little sleepy one makes it, too. It has been eating a little so there’s at least some hope there.
