Anyone care to help me out with guessing the breed and gender of my feather kids? I know their papa was a Cochin. It’s obvious whose mama is the black sex-link. The other options are Australorp and Lavender Orpington. The Cochin is what’s throwing me off. I didn’t know their papa was a roo until he was at least 6 months old. 🤣

Thanks y’all!

For gender, first two pics are a pullet and others cockerels. Determining if the first pullet and last black cockerel are part Orpington or part Australorp will be near impossible. The best way would be to breed them together or with a lavender bird and see if she throws lavender offspring. That would tell us if she's a split or not.

Thank you! That’s what I thought. The last bird looks just like our Australorp. I’m hoping the pullets are Lavenders. We lost our Lavi and our Cochin to a predator (which has since been corrected) but it would be great to carry on their spirit!

I know. I’m sorry 😞 He was the best roo I’ve ever had. He didn’t even crow. And she would stay inside with me and watch TV. We have a terrible bobcat problem in our area, but the kids now live within reinforces walls. Thank you again for your help identifying the new additions. We are so excited to have them. Our black sex-links have got to be the sweetest things that ever roamed the earth and to pair them with his disposition is going to be incredible! 💕
