Guinea fowl hatch date?!

Thank you!

Another question... one of the babies hatched weird and now seems unsteady on his feet. He still gets around but he doesn’t stand up completely and has to put his wings all the way out to walk. Should I put him back in the incubator? Or help him in some way? I’ve been giving him water with quik chik and he seems in good spirits outside of him unable to walk like the others.

I also have one with a cloudy eye... so I feel like I must’ve done something wrong during the incubating process.
If the parents were closely related, there is no telling what recessive genetic problems could arise in the keets. Be sure that you aren't just seeing the nictitating membrane in the keet with a cloudy eye. Pictures of the one having trouble walking may help in seeing what the problem is.

Looks like you were right about the one with the cloudy eye.

I tried getting some pictures. Let me know if I should get some more.

He is with week old keets and I’m wondering if I should move him. They don’t pick on him though.

Looks like it is a Pied Pearl Gray. It has a little bit of splay leg. Keep it off of slick surfaces. Even newspaper is too slick of a surface for it. Even a surface such as the select grip easy liners would be better for it. Anything that it can get a good grip on to help prevent its leg from sliding out away from it will be helpful.

I don't recommend having guinea keets on wood chips until they are at least two weeks old. They will try to eat the chips which they cannot digest them without having appropriate sized grit in their system. They can become plugged up and die.

It should be alright with the week old keets. It will try to crawl under them for warmth and security. I just had two week old keets in with four week old poults and they did fine together.

Good luck.

Thank you! I’ll try that. What bedding do you suggest I put down?

I use sand but that is only because I live on a sand dune and just dig it up anywhere when I go outside. Some people use textured paper towels on top of the easy grip liners. Some people use towels that they have dedicated for the purpose and re use them after washing them. I think the select grip easy liners would be okay for the first week or so.

His leg is doing much better! He is getting around easily and seems happy... and to add to the exciting news, the last egg has externally pipped!
