Guineas in the road!

At least 2 or 3 times a day I have a stupid amount of stress when I see my darn guineas in the road either almost getting hit or almost causing a 6 car pile up beacsue people are actually stopping for them while they stand in the road squaking at the cars like the cars are in THEIR way.....any suggestions? I think i need Guinea Crossing sign

LOL Oh you should get one!!! That is my concern as ewhen mine get older (well kinda). I have cow farms on both sides, and I am worried they will go over and yell at the cows.

Me too. If you know where to get such a sign, let me know. What is so bad about it, is there is nothing you can do to get them out of the road . . . you just have to watch and hope they move.

I am worried they will go over and yell at the cows.

My Guineas pay my cows no mind. If you already have the cow farms, the Guineas will be OK because they know the cows belong there. They get stressed & make noise about new things. For instance, they walk in and around my dogs and cats but will kick up a fuss if someone else's dog or cat comes on the place.​

You can try stringing up shiny things across the area they access the road from. Run some of those garden stakes in the ground and hang old CD's or aluminum plates. Eventually they become immune to them so some other shocking change would be needed.

My guineas don't even look at the cows or horses but I have no suggestions on the road thing because I only have a few cars a day that drive down my road and mostly neighbors that drive slow. We live so far in the sticks that we can not even get caller ID on our phone! Thank god for sattelite internet!

I have cow pastures on both sides of me and 900+ acres of woods behind me. As hard as i try my guineas roam over both cow pastures and the woods behind me.But as long as i give them treats every night when they play by the rules and come back to the coop all is well. I think it is very important to train them to return every night with treats. Usually they will be waiting next to the coop for their treat. The only way to keep them out of something is to pen them up.

OK, I found this thread because in spite of the fact that my flock has 50 acres to roam in, they now insist on jumping my fence and crossing the road-- or worse yet, standing in it. We have a lot of traffic as our road connects two counties, mostly BIG trucks carrying cotton, logs, etc. I put shiny pinwheels all along my fence (looks really stupid) and it didn't stop them at all. I get texts and calls all day from neighbors telling me my guineas are in the road! I can even tell now sometimes because I hear a big truck slowing down and I know they are by the side of the road thinking about crossing.

Anyone have any solutions? I can get them back home by shaking a mealworm jar and calling them, but they go right back over when they are done eating!

My did the guinea cross the road? LOL. This happened with one of our silkie chicks.
