It’s kind of hard for me to give an opinion because you can’t make a mess of the fur but you need a caliber large enough to take a wolf. I think it would be more about the type of bullet you use than the caliber. A bolt rifle in .223 with the Barnes 85 grain copper bullet is a deadly combo. I personally wouldn’t do it but I know a guy who hunts elk with that set up.

We just started our gun collection. We recently moved so mostly everything got sold to make things easier. I got this at a gun show. The color is what made me want it.

this weekend going up north for white tail hunting and trapping trip for a few days.

for me this is the first serious white tail hunt for me. not going to be picky just want a small buck for meat.

then for trapping am going after a bit of everything which is on our land. (its a mix from coyotes to wolves to mink to marten to coons)

Safety ON, if you are not shooting it. ;)

My wife has a Glock 19 and I have 2 1858 revolvers that we shoot behind the house at a 20 yards range. If anyone steps out of the safety protocol they are verbal reprimanded. I got a stand loader for the 1858's as it is difficult to always point the muzzle down range when trying to stuff the cylinders.

just sighted in my flintlock rifle today and all i got to say is wow.

my first shot was almost dead on and follow up ones made a nice small group. it might of only been 25 yards but i was out shooting all my other guns the worst part was it was with iron sights as well.

i am a not the best at shooting rifles (i only like to take shots at still targets when hunting) but this gun just shot great, felt great and i think i have enough confidence to take a deer out to 50-60 yards.

also the gun is traditions Kentucky rifle in the flint lock version. so nothing super fancy.

Fancy or not, it’s still a nice rifle and nice shooting! I’ve always wanted to put together a basic Hawkins 50cal kit but I’ve just never gotten around to it. Maybe one day. Here in Louisiana a single shot 35 Whelen is legal for muzzle loading season so I have one of those.
where i live any muzzleloader is legal during a muzzleloader season (caplock, inline, flintlock heck even match and wheel lock and we can use crossbows as well during muzzleloader) only rule here is it can not be bigger then a 10 gauge shot gun. (so no 4 gauge punt guns lol)

There's no Ammo in it. I have a full clip in the safe with it. It's never loaded and always locked up.
