Hubs has many long guns, I am a handgun kind of girl - I carry a Sig 938 Scorpion (love it) and I have a Colt 1911 and an FNX 9. He got me a .223 AR for our anniversary! I just got a scope for it, but thiink I may get a red dot as well. I put a quick change mount on it so I can switch easily. I really like to target shoot, keep in practice for the occasional raccoon or whatever.

I bought this rifle used for $250 came with a box of ammo with 3 missing and the rifles box an papers. Bought the medium weaver rings, scope and bipod for a real good price right around $225 at a local shop, polished bolt, aftermarket trigger spring (idr the cost but cheap!), bedded stock and now action for $25ish. So for right around $500 it puts my wifes R700 adl with a sendero trigger in its place as far as accuracy goes the barrel heats up on the rar more and the magazine though functional should have been metal those are the ONLY draw backs to em. Once the RAR gets some real aftermarket support it will be a contender to most any highly supported action in my opinion.

Does anyone know the differences from the Savage B17F and the B17FV? All I can tell is that the B17F comes with factory installed sights while the B17FV does not and the B17FV cost about $70 more. I can't believe they'd charge $70 more for just not including sights. What am I missing?

The 17FV has accutrigger. Not sure the 17F does.

I suggest before you buy go actually hold the rifles and try them all to see which one fits you best whether 17 or 22. I own a pre 2000 savage 22 good little gun. To add rugger makes one tack driver of a 10/22 some with the right scope are out to 200yrds and holding real tight groups.

Got the rugger sighted in 4holes in the same hole looked like a 50 cal hole.

Sighted in my wifes beloved Rem700 270 with a terrible NC star it came with when her dad got it for her ages ago. After X5 its so cloudy i barley got it in the center, but you can't tell her that as shes really never had to zoom in for shooting. Oh well maybe ill talk her into something else before long or buy me another for mine and switch that hawke to hers.
