Gun legislation- anyone heard about this?

Yea its a bunch of fuey! But they clam that because it was state delegates that wrote it an they called there self "We The People" that every reference to "the people" means the states.

Now someone explain how 'the people' means individual rights throughout all of The Constitution and the Amendments, but in just one, the Second Amendment, it means something else. Logic isn't there because it is meant to be an individual's right. Only 'constitutional scholars' like Obama (who has publicly said he 'chafes at the restraints of the Constitution) reads the words 'the people' in a way to equate it with a militia.

The Constitution was written by smart people, guarding 'the people' against the tyranny of government. Things just haven't changed as much as the revisionists want us to believe.

Hopefully they realize we have too many important issues to fool with this silly bill.

For some without naming names in congress and other levels this is a important issue.

I carry a original custom reworked 1851 colt navy converted to .38 spl cartridge. The man that reworked it for me also reworked Tom Selleck's guns. I really should not carry it is worth more than I could replace it for, I have been offered over $2,000 for it.

Hippie as a former LEO I AGREE. Once a person serves ALL of their time for a non violent crime their rights should be restored. I do think the right to bear arms shall not be infringed says nothing of past mistakes. I'm sure I am going to get beat up for this, but violent criminals BELONG in jail, not on parole, not on early release, nodda. If they can't be trusted with a gun they have no business being free. Every search warrant served on a convicted felon yielded a gun, or more. So the law does not work.

If your state does not have specific laws to prohibit it, a felon can own a antique or replica weapon as long as it does not use cartridges. This would be black powder muzzle loading or cap and ball. This has been checked out with ATF for confirmation. State laws vary and in Illinois it is against the law.

BTW get any black powder weapons NOW I expect the laws to change soon. I am looking at 2 1858 Remington 5 1/2 inch barreled armies. NO PAPER TRAIL, NO BACKGROUND CHECK, NO WAITING PERIOD. I already own 1 8 inch 1858 and it is one of the most accurate handguns I have. Along with 6 1851 Navies I love my black powder guns.

Why would you be beat up for this? It's a valid opinion and learned from experience.

A friend of mine gave me something else to consider. He told me that he supports the NRA but would never sign up for their firearm coverage to protect him if his guns were stolen. He brought up a good point that if guns were ever banned, the government could supoena the list that is kept of covered guns. I personally prefer to be kept off the lists, just in case.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but maybe they really are after my guns!

I agree Jody I keep a record of my firearms on a few cds, and hide those. I want no other record of my firearms. If they pass a law all they will find is an empty safe.

No matter what country you're in, regardless of its supposed laws and rights, we all have the same basic need to protect ourselves and our own.
Even a brief research on England and other countries where guns have been banned will indicate that taking the rights to possess arms from the populace is always a negative, and tantamount to giving the true criminals what you might call "free-range" of unarmed innocents.
And, you will find not only many, many people who are so sorry they didn't fight even the first hint of such a suggestion, you will also find an increase in crime to an appalling rate as well as increase loss of life (murders), instead of the decrease that some would expect as a result.
With breaking and entering, rapes, and child abductions occuring at an alarming rate, as a woman and a mother, a gun in my hands certainly levels out the playing field and increase my options of defense. I never want to have that choice to protect my children and myself denied.
Many of our forefathers who helped establish this country were very vocal on these rights. I believe without a doubt they would beg us to resist.
I remember best Patrick Henry's, "Give me liberty or give me death!" Wow, I think he was serious.
