guniea pigs

I'm having the same issue - specifically - with Peruvians. I live in NW Pennsylvania, and I really want to get a few Peruvians... but no one seems to have them! Are Cavy a lost hobby???

Me too. We don't have any piggies right now, but have before. I have thought about trying to find a breeder online to order from. I *love* them. They are probably the best pets I ever have had in my life. One of these days we will get them again!

We have one Guinea Pig! We took her in from a friend because she was moving. Her name is Poof and I guess she is an American Agouti? She lovesss to talk whenever you get her a treat!

They are a good source of protien and used in native ceramoines in their homeland. Poof is very pretty. http://www.acbaonline.com/ this is the offical site for showing cavies. Id really like a skinny pig. So cute since thier naked. Someday id like to do a large room for breeding cavies and maybe a rescue. Its hard for pet stores around here to find cavies. Anyone have a large set up with lots of pigs theyd care to share pics of? aarrohn whered did you find the ones you have?

Back when I was raising them and going to shows, most of the people I knew with them raised them outside. They do not do well off the ground on wire, though. If I were going to keep them in a cage off the ground I would provide a solid bottom for it. Of course, I live in the deep South, so that could make a difference with keeping them outside. The cold was never really much of an issue as long as the pens were covered or they had some type of boxes to get into when it was cold.

here's a small selection from our cavie house

spish, nice pictures, thank you for sharing with us. I'd love to see more pics of set-ups if people don't mind sharing. I just have a regular pet store cage, but not happy with it entirely. I'd love a bigger cage, but space is a premium here. Thanks!

i know a lot of people here in belgium and in the uk make their own 'cages' out of C+C grids (cubes and corroplast cages).... not sure if you have them where you are but you can get them over the internet
