Gurgling hen--getting worse. Help!

You might want to keep track of how well her crop is emptying, since a full crop could cause food to back up into the throat. Crop should be empty by early morning if it is working normally.

Secondary infections can complicate the usual infectious bronchitis or mycoplasma (MG) infection. They may have one or more of the respiratory diseases, but those can be complicated by fecal bacteria, such as E.coli, proteus, or others such as pseudomonas.

Usually sick birds won’t eat or drink much, so her appetite sounds like she is doing okay. Here is a good link if you haven’t seen it with the most common diseases including the respiratory ones:

Eggcessive, after reading your entire link, I can't link her to any of the diseases. She has only the gurgling, and preferring to stay in one spot. No coughing, sneezing, discharge, swollen eyes, shaking head, etc. I feel hopeful when you say the fact that she's eating is a good sign. I was, frankly, shocked when she ate so well! I just hope she KEEPS eating. I'll check her crop tomorrow morning before she eats to be sure it is empty. Thank you so much for your concern. I'll keep everyone posted.
