My neighbors are from Louisiana and they have their whole family with them right now. Thats about 25 people crammed into 1 house. At least they know everyone's safe.

I am located near Beaumont, Texas. I am riding out the storm..I will get wind and rain from the outer bands of the storm..I am ready..

Edit to say..my chickens are cozy in their pens all boarded up...so are my quails!!

Weird question, Moodene... do your chickens seem to be aware that a big storm is coming? (Actually at this point you are probably in the middle of it so logically they would be aware now, but anyway...)
Did they seem nervous or anxious before the storm hit?
Just wondering...

I havent gotten a whole lot of news though and I suppose it is a little early to tell.

Just checking in here, I'm in northeast La. Wind is picking up,no rain as of yet.
Since my chickens free range, I'm nervous. The chickens don't like the wind blowing like it is & are staying close to the coop.
Hoping the coop holds up for them tonite, it's supposed to start getting worse here this afternoon.

I am wishing everyone well who has decided to ride out the storm...

as for the roo who was left behind...I would rather see him left with food and water of course and the ability to find shelter...rather then be LOCKED in a pen with no way to escape and end up crushed....animals have a wonderful way of surviving mother natures wrath
