Guys and gals... MY NEIGHBOR IS CRAZY!!!! She's the real predator!

I beg your pardon....my chickens can tell time oh yeah baby they do! I’ve got tons of examples. And my chickens are soooo smart that they will go around I mean go wayyy around bullsh*t. So my chickens know bullsh*t when they see it. Amazing isn’t it? You should see how they spell. Perfect grammar every time.
Hum...
wat

Well the landlord owns the property and has a few units there all fenced in as one. He decide to construct another unit on the property only after I had started living there so... He didn't make me get rid of the chickens. He just lets my neighbor and I handle that. But I was talking to him and he made a point that I keep kinda forgetting. She's kind of loopy and off. Also to mention VERY lonely and is looking for ANYTHING to be her "Friend" whether it be a diseased possum/rat or a predatory hawk. I took care of the possum and she started complaining to the landlord that animals have a right to live. My defense was: MY chickens have the right to live too. She's a nice lady and what-not she's just a little off I guess. :l I guess there isn't any point in complaining or getting upset at her when you think of it like that idk. But I still think she's crazy for trying to get a hawk to land on her.
Oh she’s lonely? She should meet MY neighbor who has been feeding TWO litters of foxes this summer, sounds like they’d get along (lol, but not really funny)

Just tell her to leave your chickens alone and to stay away from them if you're bothered by her feeding them and what not. Who cares if she's a lonely old woman, doesn't mean she's above the rest of us. Simple as that. Feel no pity for her. Your animals, your rules.

I didn't read all the responses here but I'm not in agreeance with most.

This is common property so this woman has just as much right to feed wild animals(maybe not according to the law but I can bet they would do nothing in this case)as the OP has to have chickens. Obviously the two don't go together. So I would recommend securing the area. Make sure the area is secure, the coop is secure, put up a net for protection. If possible put a lock on the area. This person obviously has issues and really doesn't understand. I feel bad for them. On two occasions I had Hawks swoop down right where I was--once it tried to get a wild duck and once it was swooping down on my dogs head--she literally was sitting there and it flew right at her-only swooped up when it realized how big she was. Both times I felt the wind from the wings. I surely was not waving my arms for them to land, if I was it most likely would have avoided me.

She may very well drive me nuts but I would try to work around it until I could move. Maybe even set up a schedule to go out with her and let Her feed them an appropriate treat. She may be thrilled to have her door bell ring with someone there for her.

My older male GSD is a certified therapy dog and we used to go to the nursing home. It was hard to see the people there that had nobody. It seemed everyone had a german shepherd growing up. The hardest part about going was they would try feeding him. One lady had a green biscuit that she probably had saved for years(the biscuit wasn't meant to be green) she was so happy to finally be able to give it away. As she was making a beeline for my dog, I was able to stop her. I did not want to ruin things for this lonely soul, so I pulled treats out of my pocket and explained he had to have special treats. I then went in to give her a few to give him which made her day. A simple gesture went a long way.

All I'm saying is that you have the control here to do right as crazy as she drives you. Think out of the box, kerp the chickens safe and let this poor lonely woman have some joy in her life. Compassion goes a long way and it can make one feel pretty darn good. More of it is needed in this world. Good luck to you.

Ugh I was about to rant really hard but I didn't feel like anyone would want to read what I had to say so I'll shorten it with less complaining lol... All I'm gonna say is I don't know who in the world would actually believe predatory animals are your friends :l No hawk thinks hahhaha I'm gonna land on this human because she has her arm out that's I'm probably going to tear up anyway yeah let's be friends lady :D No that hawk was trying to eat my chickens and I believe she was creating a welcoming environment for the hawk and making it think that it was okay to eat my chickens no one would protect them. It was trying to land and was maybe a few feet from the ground. It wasn't til I came out and starred at the hawk with my menacing chicken protector face it bailed out of it's land. I don't know if she was trying to throw it food or what she was doing but It's both annoying and very SAD that she actually thinks the hawk cared about her enough to land for her. I put down ANY and all predators. I told her if she encourages the hawks to land there I'm going to do the same thing I did to the possum when she came out that one night lol... She came outside and saw me.... Putting down a possum that attacked my chickens. I would do the same thing to the hawk. And I know someone is going to be like urr it's nature it's nature. But again my chickens have the right to live as well and it's nature for animals to protect animals so why can't I protect my chickens without judgement. I FEEL BAD FOR HER AT A DISTANCE. I have my own problems equally or maybe even worse that she probably has no idea about so again I UNDERSTAND how she feels but STILL.

Also predators know what happens around here.

Hawks are protected. You can't put them down, if so you can go to jail. My guess would be that if she knew you did this or saw this she would probably call the police because you hurt one of her friends. Who is taking care of the chickens then?

And predators don't know what happens around there. They are hungry and looking for food. They are not thinking oh I won't go there because someone will kill me for trying to survive.

It does't work that way.

She's not the only one with a hard time. And no I send it before there's not much I can really do but these animals are leaving droppings attacking the chickens and just being nasty in general. She's unbearable. I am usually there for ANYONE and I once spoke to a guy for about 6 hours in a mcdonalds one time because he just needed someone to talk to but when you talk about depression EVERYTIME I say good morning :l I mean sometimes when you don't talk like that friendships follow you just got to give people time. you're right though you know I wouldn't call the cops and she has some right to the property too I've tried to talk to her and I think the best thing I can do is KEEP THE CHICKENS AWAY FROM HER!!!
