"Guys Don't Cook!"

I learned to cook a long time ago and without that skill I would have starved or gotten horribly obese when I was single.

The men in my family have our own secret recipes we pass down to each generation. My halibut chowder dinner and chocolate dipped strawberries as breakfast in bed is what made my wife marry me! If you ask her though she'll say it was my personality.

My guys don't cook much, but DH and our 13yo son have the chocolate chip cookie recipe memorized. They feel cheated if they don't have a batch nearly every day... it's nice that I don't have to bake most of them.

DH also makes great bread, tuna casserole, and a few other things. I'm so thankful that guys DO cook!

Our boys also take home ec, and they're learning to use a sewing machine. I tell them it is just a power tool, they can do it.

This reminded me of the Hardy's biscuit commercial, "Because guys dont Bake!!"

Fact is, I wont date a girl that cant cook. It shows a lack of common scene. I on the other hand I can cook anything, but my specialty as an old fashion southern breakfast. Because every good southern gentleman knows it is good form to cook there dates breakfast.

My dad is a great cook. My mom...so so. My cousin (male) is a gourmet chef. We all prayed when going to see grandma and grandpa that GRANDPA was doing the cooking. I think I am the only female that really cooks in my family. My sister can burn water.

I'm pretty handy in the kitchen myself. My signature dish is eggplant parm that involves no frying and the eggplant still melts in your mouth. The funny thing is, I don't bake a lick...then again I'm not much for sweets.

I keep trying to tell my daughters to put away that nonsense makeup and learn to cook. They somehow refuse to believe that the male species are neanderthal creatures that are led around by their stomachs...

...because the boys they know are NOTHING like their dear old dad...who apparently is some sort of a freak of nature...

Hey 1, which restaurant was that? And I will only add..
Emeril Lagasse, Wolfgang Puck, Don Prudhomme, Chef Joe Zanboni, (from Madison Motor Inn Restaurant, in Rumford Maine) All great chefs. Lets not forget Ray Croc, of McDonald's fame... Who says men don't cook?

The opposite at my house DW can bake because it tells her exactly what to use, if its not spelled out how to do it she is lost. I cook everything else. I cook she cleans, thats the deal around here. I can bake too, but usually just with the kids. And the wife still has to clean.

I love to cook! I like the challenge of making different and tasty meals. My wife is an excellent cook dont get me wrong, but I have been laid off since June. Doing odd work here and there. My wife went back to work so I also then feel its my job to make things easier around here for her until I can find something.
happy New Year.
