A friend of mine gave me some skunk off (sold in pet stores i guess). Thankfully I havn't had to use it on myself to this date. It's been awhile since I've been hit, but OMG, the wife won't let me anywhere near the house if I am.

Back when I was married to my first husband, we had 2 cocker spaniels (Tybalt & Mercuciao), then got sprayed twice. We gave them a "bath" of oxyclean paste and that got most of it out of thier fur, also works for sprayed clothes, just soak the darn thing. I left the dogs with him after we split. (they were his b4 we married).

Pine that's very illegial in most places (one guy said it wasn't where he was, but also didn't say where he lives). It's under trapping and transporting wildlife, and carries huge fines.

Saddina, if the squirrels are done cleaning windows at your place, send them to me next, please ! Do they do the inside of the window too ?? How about cleaning of gutters ?? And if I hold one on my hand in the mornings, will he knock down the pesky spiderwebs that keep slapping me in the face ????

If you have a squirrel that specializes in spider webs, tell him he can live inside, free AC in summer and free heat in the winter.....

IdiotHusband, how are you doing? Were you able to dispose of your skunk? Whatever your method, I hope you didn't get sprayed or bit

Wow, I was gone for a few hours and look how this thread has deteriorated. I really don't understand why people keep trolling the P&P section. It's really not fair to the rest of us, especially those less seasoned people who try to get sound advice or suggestions from their more seasoned peers here. Isn't that why we're here at this forum, and in this particular section of the forum?

Drowning a crazy animal trapped in a trap isn't sickening. It's a practical option for someone who perhaps doesn't own a gun, who isn't comfortable shooting through a cage, is perhaps not zoned for shooting a firearms in their area. It's also an option for those who don't want to get bit or sprayed, have their kids harmed or have their pets/livestock harmed. It's also a legal alternative to shooting a predator.

The OP obviously isn't as experienced as others here in dispatching predators. That had me thinking he probably doesn't have that much experience with a gun, so perhaps offering other alternatives to shooting might be safer. And no, relocating isn't a good option. That's not my opinion, that's a law. Plus it's inconsiderate to your neighbors, near or far. Simply letting the animal out of the trap defeats the whole purpose of putting out a trap in the first place, and can be dangerous, as the animal can then attack you.

When a poster says they caught an animal in a trap and don't know what to do with it, I worry for that poster because they have no idea what to expect. So I hope, Idiot Husband, that whatever you did, you did it safely.

PLease note that the OP did not ask specifically how to kill it, he asked how to get it out, therefore those of us who prefer to NOT drown/shot/etc passed our opinions along to the OP too. Ive been here to long and been to helpful over the years to be a troll!

But OP, feel free to give us an update on how it went for you. Hopefully you didnt need out deskunking remedies.

I don't know, I've been tempted to shoot people who want to dump things off in the woods

They generally try to park in my driveway

Unfortunately they aren't too happy when a gun goes off that they dont see taking out the dumped animal. I guess it would have been more funny if it would have been a skunk and not a 'coon cuz they'd have a smelly reminder, but hey....

Oh yeah, that is usually breaking state and federal laws..... the only state I know of where this can legally be done is in Oregon after a kind member here pointed that out in past threads.

Even if it were legal -- I wonder whether people who recommend putting a live trapped skunk or coon in their truck have ever tried it. I don't want skunk spray or coon worms in my truck, thank you, even assuming I could safely get the cage in the truck without getting bitten or skunk spray on me. Those traps are not generally designed to handle them safely when a live animal is inside; it would take two people and a long pole, or a similar arrangement. That would be hard to do with a blanket over the top of the cage.

Poor OP is probably afraid to come back and say what he did!
