Had to put a LOCK on my chicken coop

I haven't read all the posts, so sorry if this is a repeat... what about one of those motion sensor deer deterents, the ones that spray water... the neigbors come over, set it off and they get soaked.... now that I would like to have on camera!!!!

Get a game camera and get some surveillance on your coop/run/property. They're relatively inexpensive and being able to give the police photos/videos will put the whole thing to rest.

A shotgun works just as good. We have drug dealers diagonally across the street from us.They dont tresspass since I put out 4 no tresspassing signs ( a law here.) and took my shotgun outside. They might get me in a rush but I'll know a few who will have heads like canoes. They used to tromp thru our yard to go across the street to the gas station. Our next door neighbor carries guns and her neighbor also carries.

Set up a sting, set up cameras, booby traps like a cargo net that falls on them if the come in the back,or a trip wire that tosses hornets on them.

seriously.Set up cameras, then get the police involved. Also you can tell the police that they make alot of noise at night and do it frequently so the police will change their patrol route to spook them.

The world has just gotten out of control!! So many kids are on thier own with NO parental supervision. I also fear as the economy and jobs get worse, people will get more desperate in thier actions. I am by myself half the time as my hubby works offshore and my boy is grown. I live along a busy county highway and have had more than a few wierdos stop, one incident left me so shaken about 4 years ago that I now conceal carry, yes even here at home. I had 5 young men in broad daylight in an older car get out come to the door, mind you carrying BIBLES, I was uncomfortable answering the door, so I didn't. They kept knocking and banging on the door, then 3 of them started to go around the house looking in windows and trying to open the doors!!! I had the back door unlocked as my dog goes in and out at that door. I barely made it in time to get the door locked and grab the only weapon I had at the time wwich was a little Henry 22 rifle, hardly enough to deal with 5 guys. They didn't realize it was just just a 22, they only saw me standing on the other side of the patio door with a gun and got gone. I called the sherrif as soon as they started to leave. I was advised to do more to protect myself, I thought my poor hubby was going to have a heart attack when I told him about the ordeal.

There is not a room in my house that a gun is not hidden in besides my carry pistol that is always on my hip. I continually take more and more advanced classes for CCW. I want to be around and see granchildren come into the world and live a long life with my hubby.

If I were in your shoes, I may consider getting a large dog. One that loves you and your family, including your chickens. A larger dog would hopefully scare their dog away and depending on the type of dog, would most probably keep unwanted people away too! You can get a really aggressive looking sounding dog that isn't really aggressive with you or your own. And if the word gets out that you have a "mean dog" even better!
