Then divorce and finding my own place with more room for the chickens.

They won't all hatch. I guarantee that.
I may get a couple chicks out of the first 50-60 eggs. (But they'll be good'uns)
thumbsup.gif

Maybe 1/4 - 1/2 of the rest. (because I'm not turning the eggs)
I would like some quail, though...but I sabotaged myself there because I waited a week to set them.
Pretty much the same with the guinea eggs.
I like the challenge. It gives me a chance to experiment, push the limits and hone my skills. It also fits with my survival of the fittest beliefs
AND it's my fail-safe so I don't end up with too many chickens.
10 eggs/day X 5 months(30 days) =1500 eggs (and I was getting 15+eggs/day)
ep.gif

I don't want 2200 chickens...lol.
Not yet anyway....(insert evil laugh)
wink.png

It does look like I'm way off the mark...but I have a specific goal in mind I'm striving for.

*No disrespect intended to those who have much more experience than I...I've simply chosen to take a different route with my hatching adventures.

OOOH WEEEE I am getting soooo eggcited, StarFire's clutch due to hatch any day now, or at least start Friday. They were laid the same day I set them, 9/23. I had set them in the evening, so I suppose the 24th is day1? Making 10/14 day 21.... Does this sound right?

ooooh so excited, can't wait to see little ones!!!

Okay- I'm still new to this app, so I hope I'm posting in the right spot for the Halloween Hatch along. So far we have 1 fertile Bourbon Red turkey egg, 4 Fertile Ameraucana eggs, 7 fertile RIR, 1 fertile EE/ RIR cross, and 3 fertile Banty/ Barred Rock Cross. I know... some weird crosses, but that's part of the fun for us! This is our 3rd, and probably last hatch this year. I'd like everyone feathered out before winter. The kiddos LOVE it though! It has been great bonding time for the entire family, and I feel very blessed to be able share with everyone! Hatch days have become quite the family affair, and we all gather at my home for hatch days

. We are expecting our fluff balls on the 24th, and will most likely have a small family Halloween/ hatch party for the kiddos! Everyone wiggling around when candled. So far so good!

prepping for the storm now. hard to do with a sprained ankle and a toddler :p
I really worry about the power going out with eggs in the incubator.
Same here. I even made sure all the bills got paid ahead of time, just in case we get cut off from everything. Don't forget to charge your phones and gas up the cars. If your home loses power, and you don't have an alternative for heat, you can put the incubator in the car with the heater cranked up. Rocks or bricks warmed in a fireplace can help to keep eggs warm, too.
