HALLOWEEN Hatch-a-Long 2016 w/ Hosts, Mike, Sally & BantyChooks

She's been my really mellow baby... so I just assumed she wasn't gonna be a trouble maker.
never assume, never

Hubby and I are trying to figure out if and how we can adopt, but our daughter is a HUGE trouble maker and has been since day one. She makes filling out paperwork SUPER hard.
Every time she does something really fear inducing, just plain nasty or bratty we look at each other and ask ourselves O.M.G! Do we really want to PAY money to do this again? Then she does something amazing or cuddles in and for that moment we forget and fogive how hard parent hood really is.

Of course when she broke eggs in my incubator THAT took me longer than a moment to get over ;)

My oldest almost made me never want more kids... he's more work then my 3 younger ones put together.

Although, my toddler is definitely giving me a run for my money, but in a different way. My oldest was a runner - he'd run away, hide, scare me half to death. I mean ... at 12, he threw himself off a horse to "scare" me, and could have seriously injured himself. He did it in cowboy boots and his underwear, because he refused to wear clothes.

He won't go near horses now, he didn't realize falling actually hurt, until he threw himself off a horse to scare me.... he learned a valuable lesson that day. but still.

He was a challenge, but in some ways, having a kid like him, made me REALLY appreciate how "easy" the other kids are, compared to him. My toddler is giving me a run for my money now, but he doesn't run away, or hide from me, he doesn't throw all his toys out the window on a second story or climb onto roofs, like my oldest did. (He does climb onto the top of our deep freezer if he gets a chance though.)

Are you thinking of going through private, or foster? When we struggled with infertility, we went through adoption classes. we may still adopt down the road, once my oldest moves out. He'll be 18 when I'm 36.

We've completed all the training and paperwork for foster to adopt, but haven't scheduled a home study. My cousins adoption from Foster care took 3years from placement. Found out recently that husbands job may take him to another state so we don't want to commit to foster unless we are 100% sure we are staying in place for the long haul. It wouldn't be fair to us or the child if placement was disrupted because of employment opportunities, or if hubby gave up a great job to stay with a child, but placement was disrupted any way

Private adoption can be really pricey, but apart from the rare horror story our child would be ours even if we had to move across state lines.
