looks like 13 are out! hard to get them all in the same shot,a few fully zipped and a couple that just pipped.this is my second hatch and wayy better than the first. the ducks have no pips but i know they take a bit longer, kinda wondering if the chicks kicking them around will be bad for them.
im fairly certin i would have been ok with 1 sponge...

The one in particular that spurred me to write it was someone telling another member that it was guaranteed that their roosters would become aggressive and attack them when they matured. I had seen that a bunch of times and decided it was time to put that and other myths to bed so I wrote the article

I understand we've had quite a mixed bag as far as roos and cockerals go as well. We've had some really nasty ones and some really super sweet easy to handle ones. Where can I find the article?

they need much lower humidity than the others those big eggs. that humidity may be too low for the serama I run higher in smaller eggs.

I hope you feel better soon sweetie, I know how it feels not to breathe and it sucks.  I hope you break out of it quickly   I hope the hens find their way back, what a bummer!

Did you hatch a pullet or cockeral?
The seramas seem to be doing okay with this humidity I'm monitoring them closely although I wish I had a scale. I am not sure how I could get the humidity any lower. I don't want to risk the smally eggs by lowering it too much. The egg in question had the smallest air cell on arrival which I'm sure had something to do with it. Thanks Dear I appreciate the hugs and well wishes. I sure hope they come home too but at this point I'm not hopeful. I have the first generation and perhaps that will need to be enough to start the breeding program Ugh. I just feel bad I've no clue what took them. I really detest predators. If they don't come home that will bring our total predator losses up to 20+ birds since May. at this rate I guess it's good we haven't sold off all the pullets we wanted to yet. We may need them.

Nice article. I like my current two roosters. My showgirl is very nice. My easter egger rooster runs away from me, which is better than sneak attacking me. I had a bantam old english mix and he was very nice. Unfortunately a possum got him. I was going to keep this really beautiful black tail wheaten maran rooster but he was a complete jerk when he matured. Sweet as could be until then. I ended up giving him away. But I've definitely had a mix of personalities when it comes to roosters.

Yes we've had mix of personalities too ranging from very sweet and easy to handle to demonically possessed lol

I wanted to do trader Joe's eggs. But the one by us didn't have fertile eggs.

You could try their free Range Egg's or whole foods may have the fertile.

Can't wait to see the baby grand duckies! I wonder what color they will be. The moms hatch them SOOO well compared to our incubators!
