theyre prettier and spunkierThat's my problem, not sure about others. My boys just seem to survive my hatching practices lol... the Maran pictured pip'd n zipped in an hour, while one pip'd a day early, stayed that way 24hrs, I later helped, she had pip'd too soon and intestines were out, others died in shell, or 24hrs after hatching... The Araucana also hatched relatively fast and was very vigorous in the incubator after hatching. I tend to pick boys from bins too, it appears lol...

Knowing my luck, I'll be a boy-breeder, too. Ugh.That's my problem, not sure about others. Might be nice, if I want a lot of tom turkeys to eat... won't be so good if I need hens to lay or female ducks.
The good thing I guess is metzer farms sexes ducks, as do most of the turkey hatcheries... so down the road... I can get more girls.
I can have boys. I already talked to my husband and he doesn't care if we have 20 roosters running around. As long as they don't fight or pick on the other animals or attack us or the kids, they can live in peace.Ya, I ordered everything pullet in the breeds I could for the Welp and Ideal orders. I got Welps yesterday, and Ideal is due next week. I'm pretty sure I see a boy already in my Welp order, but 10 are SR, and I did want 1 boy at least in those![]()
Here was first day, then a few days later with my Araucana Boy... only boys seem to survive for my hatches lol

I actually love hearing my roosters crow, and the sounds the turkey's make are interesting.
It is hard to tell exact color in pictures, but he does look actually white like mine. So hopefully that's what she is.![]()
