HALLOWEEN Hatch-a-Long 2016 w/ Hosts, Mike, Sally & BantyChooks

That's my problem, not sure about others. My boys just seem to survive my hatching practices lol... the Maran pictured pip'd n zipped in an hour, while one pip'd a day early, stayed that way 24hrs, I later helped, she had pip'd too soon and intestines were out, others died in shell, or 24hrs after hatching... The Araucana also hatched relatively fast and was very vigorous in the incubator after hatching. I tend to pick boys from bins too, it appears lol...

True that. Mine have all turned out to be friendlier too. First to run up for chest rubs, get jealous of who's being held, and generally want to jump up and investigate what I'm doing. Around 12 weeks old the boys start to lose that and the girls start to take over the favorite status...but that could be due to crowing, because I'm not supposed to have boys, so shooing, grabbing to stop crows etc all tend to start scaring the boys :( I need to move badly so I can keep the sweethearts.

Knowing my luck, I'll be a boy-breeder, too. Ugh.

Might be nice, if I want a lot of tom turkeys to eat... won't be so good if I need hens to lay or female ducks.

The good thing I guess is metzer farms sexes ducks, as do most of the turkey hatcheries... so down the road... I can get more girls.

Ya, I ordered everything pullet in the breeds I could for the Welp and Ideal orders. I got Welps yesterday, and Ideal is due next week. I'm pretty sure I see a boy already in my Welp order, but 10 are SR, and I did want 1 boy at least in those :)

I can have boys. I already talked to my husband and he doesn't care if we have 20 roosters running around. As long as they don't fight or pick on the other animals or attack us or the kids, they can live in peace.

I actually love hearing my roosters crow, and the sounds the turkey's make are interesting.
