HALLOWEEN Hatch-a-Long 2016 w/ Hosts, Mike, Sally & BantyChooks

You're getting turkeys too?

I have to look more into them. I'm want to get a heritage breed, but I'm not familiar with them.

Oooooh...I know I'd be excited if I was a child at the daycare.
Kinda nice to be able to have the duckies to show them...so exciting for you too!

i am very sure that i will be getting some eggs at least lol
i think all turkeys except BB are heritage, they are all the same but the colors change

It sounds like they respond quickly to it...but to what extent I don't know. I was giving vitamins but then I changed it to electrolytes with vitamins when I wsn't sure they were eating. I emptied the syringe of Polyvisol water yesterday. It's hard to measure out such a small amount of chicken vitamin so I'll go back to using the polyvisol. His water dish is SO small...he'd drown in a milk jug lid. I don't want to overdose him with vitamins...too much of certain ones can be toxic. He gets around well so I'm thankful for that. It'd be great to straighten his feet. Maybe in week I'll try tape again.

if he remains a house pet and can get around he might be fine anyway but i hope they straighten out for you!!

I think that's awesome! :p  And funny.  It;s good he's getting involved. :thumbsup
I don't have the skills with water fowl. :/
Hubby doesn't "hate" the chickens here...he just doesn't want 200. :gig
Although he's not much for the guineas. He also thinks 40 roosters are excessive.
(I'd like to get turkeys.) I'd LOVE me some nice turkeys!:ya

i cant wait to get turkeys!!!
spring!!! LOL

we hatched 5 call ducklings, my daughter claimed 2, my husband and i each got one and then there is one that is so far unnamed but we are bringing them into daycare monday for a playdate and the class is going to name the last one. they are VERY excited

Turkeys are so wonderful! You both definitely will love them to death! I HIGHLY recommend getting eggs and hatching them yourself. They imprint and are such sweet and endearing birds :)

We always had turkeys when I was growing up and I had turkeys once after I got married.
I had pet favorites.

Of course, that was 2.5 decades ago so I'd have some relearning to do...lol.
I would definitely go the egg route...the whole quarantine thing is a major pain in the backside .

Quote: Sorry to hear the eggs didn't turn out but congratulations on the cutie chick!
Some people put stuffed animals in....I put my toque (stocking cap) folded over, in with my single chicks.
I found it helped for them to be able to cuddle. I usually found the chick sitting on my toque.

no problem thanks for the suggestion. put a mirror in and doesn't seem to be snuggling with itself but hasn't been chirping like it was can try putting something in that can be pooped on lol

thanks little thing doesn't like being alone does a little stuffed animal help with all the chirping
it can, also a mirror or feather duster, sometimes they like somewhere to hide too
