HALLOWEEN Hatch-a-Long 2016 w/ Hosts, Mike, Sally & BantyChooks

Oh, neat! Sorta something like guineas then...sex determined by voice calls.
That's a nice cage!!

I'm so upset. I don't get upset much.
The repair guy who's here to fix a couple of tractors backed over my brand new trap.
Hadn't even caught anything in it yet.

my husband ran over my hav-a-heart trap

Here are some shots of the hen. She didn't want to stand very still. so, the images may be a little blurry.

shes super cute!!

I have an app on my phone that randomly selects and "stylizes" (edits) photos. It selected a one of the chick pics. Here is what it did...
It does a nice job! That's a nice pic! The chick looks looks like it's contemplating deep thoughts. What an expression!
It does, doesn't it. Amazing what a little photo editing can do.

Quote: Hatch rates:

92 chicken eggs set
35 made it to 12 or 16 days (should've marked it down)
19 lockdown

7 chicks hatched on their own, unassisted.

It appears that the oldest eggs died first with only 4 old eggs remaining. They died by lockdown.
Of the eggs left to hatch the 60's had the right humidity and hatched.
The 80s and up had too much humidity and died. That's what I'd assess from the eggtopsies.
2 chicks were fully formed and one egg was pipped. Both chicks appeared to grow too huge for the shell.
