I tell you what Mojo---it's true what they say, you can take a girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl--

We moved down here (Florida with my parents ) when I was 12 from Kentucky, got rid of my horses, dogs and cats and I was not a happy camper when we moved in a neighborhood...

So when I got married we bought a little shack on 10.5 acres ( not many but it'll do ) and we are slowly starting our own farm...we had a horse, she passed away a couple of yrs ago but we are getting another one in the spring (YAY!) and chickens ( dogs and cats of course as well ) and a cow hopefully very soon, my hubby really wants a couple of cows...

I LOVE the farm life!! It's a good kind of busy!

Yep, we've busted our butts on this farm, but it is a fantastic feeling of satisfaction to look around and know that hubby and I built almost everything here ourselves (it was a hayfield when we bought it).

I love my cows, I have two in particular, our Heiffer (Camille) and Mookie (our first bottle baby ever) who are staying - the rest are going to sale auction come spring when they are bigger. Mookie is gonna be our freezer cow - but he is sweet anyway, so until he goes to processor, I'll keep loving on him. Camille is going to be bred next spring, and we'll put a couple more babies on her when she gives birth to her own calf. She is mostly for a nurse cow, but if I ever needed a quart or two of milk, I'm sure she'd spare me some

I love just going out and walking around petting animals, too - who needs TV when ya got critters?

It gets dirty, smelly, sweaty and tiring sometimes, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I agree and there isn't a better smell than a smell of a farm!! I just love it! Maybe I'm weird but I do

I have baby number 2!! It just hatched...I heard chirping and I reached under my girl and felt the broken egg so I lifted her up and there was the little wet chick and I took the shell out and left her alone after giving her some water....I know she doesn't like me messing with her, but I only check on her to feed and water her about 2-4 times a day so I think that it's fair if I take a peek...lol....yay!!

Soon as she gets out of the nest ( the baby ) I'll take pictures...I didn't even look at the other eggs, I didn't want to stress her out so I'm not sure on their progress but I'm hoping by tomorrow...I'm giving them 3 days after today so fingers please keep them crossed!!

Lunch check in...I have 21 hatched and around 10 pipping and zipping.
One is going long ways around the egg! Crazy Halloween bunch I tell ya!
Im off tomorrow so I will stay up late and make pics for you all, when I get off for real around 3pm.

Hey all... after a whole three hours of sleep, I'm back...

Right before I went to bed, I checked the eggies again to see if anyone made progress - lockdown is pretty much out the window with two small end pippers needing help. Anyhoo, I picked up the most damaged egg of the lot, and somehow I just knew... poor little baby didn't make it. Would have been a lovely little one - black and yellow, white face with little black speckles. *sigh* I really didn't think it would make, though I had hoped. The egg was so very badly mashed, most of the shell had flaked off and the entire small end was bare membrane. However, the other eggs all show life this morning. Two peeping, one tapping, and SEP #2 which is about 1/3 peeled. Gonna work on her some more, then jet to work.

evonne - I'll def. keep updating pics of the babies. I love taking pics of 'em! And yah, can't wait to see how that baby feathers out.
