Halloween ~ Hatch Day!

Quote:
I have only had one with spraddle leg so far, and I used the bandaids. I just put it back in with the others, and it did just fine. It could get around on it's own, and eat and drink just like the rest of them. I have only had to boot one, also with bandaids and cardboard. It was a lot more difficult, and the little guy ended up dying, so I don't know if it would have worked or not the way I did it.

I still have absolutely nothing...no pipping, no rocking...NOTHING!! I am going crazy!!

Anyone else still waiting? Or am I the lone ranger now?

I still have 3 in the bator for a staggered hatch. They should make their appearances in the next couple of days I hope. But as far as the due date goes... your the Lone Ranger!

Good luck!

My Silkies were due today & they waited til today to hatch! LoL

BTW....
1) the last litte guy seems so much smaller than the rest. He is the one that had the green poo come out of him after hatching...is that normal?
2) Also, his toes are curled. Will they straighten or do I have to tape them tomorrow?
3) His feathers are kinda stuck down. I used a wipe on him to loosen the stuff but it is still sticking his feathers down. Something is stuck on his feathers from the egg. (if that makes sense)

Thanks!

The green poo is normal...they all seem to do that a time or two after hatching.
The toes sometimes straighten out on their own, but if not by tomorrow then you should tape them.
The "goo" will come off him after he's in the brooder for a while and he'll get all fluffy like everyone else.

THe one chick I helped out of the shell is still hanging in there, but it doesn't look too good. One of my silkies was zipping fine, but didn't get out in time and died in the shell.

Another one was zipping and died also.

My incubator stinks like crazy. Is there some way to clean it without affecting the other eggs? Their not due out until the 3 or 4 of November.

What would casue them to die? Not sure about cleaning the bator while eggs are in there. Why does it smell? Maybe a quick anti-bacterial baby wipe?
