Halloween ~ Hatch Day!

Noooooooo..... my hubby talked me out of it! He said basically everything I had said. That some things might not be clear this early and since we'll have to have the 'bator open for an extended period of time when we add the others.....

Why did he have to do that? I had almost talked myself into peeking!

I'm going to be strong and resist the urge....for now!



Boy, my BO's look so lonely in their 'bator compared to both of yours! We're down to 14, so only two rows of the turner!

Wow you guys! Those are some gorgeous looking eggs! Whew! Mine looks really empty too! But come spring, I bet I can fill'er up!

Kelly, what are the pinkish looking eggs? The eggs are like all diffferent shapes too. They remind me of those candies that look like rocks, that I always wanted when I was a kid & mom wouldn't buy them....lol

The pink ones are pink EE eggs. I prefer the blue and green ones, but these add some color too.

Hi again ladies. I was on the other night I have welsummers due halloween to so we will go all be up all night. If you are candling dark eggs best to wait till day ten. Lighter eggs I do at seven. On day 10 the air sac shows up better in dark brown ones.

I don't know a lot about the penedesencas. Just knew that they laid dark eggs, which I LOVE (just in case I haven't said that enough...) and I could get them on eggbid a whole lot cheaper than the marans. They are also a Spanish chicken.

I wanted to try and hatch eggs first before investing in the marans. I'd hate to mess up and be out all that money...

I have since found out that they are kinda flighty. But, I don't really mind just as long as they give me brown eggs.

I mean what is a penedesenca? A chicken or duck or game bird? I have never heard of it, better check my poultry book!
