I try to keep it around 45%, but it's been a little lower this time, so I hope I don't have problems.

I'm just hoping I haven't kept mine too high. Right now, it was 99.9 and 34% humidity, I just added a little water, already back up to 55% humidity and 99.5 temp. I love this hova bator.

during first 18 days humidity should be between 30 and 40. lower is better. Your egg has to evaporate its moisture by 11 to 14 percent. If humidity is to high during first 18 days your chicks will pip through the membrane and drowned. At day 18 raise humidity to 60 to 70. Do not open incubator under any circumstances after day 18 or you will lose humidity and dry out your chicks and they wont be able to turn in egg to pip. Also do not use news paper for flooring it will cause slayed leg. Paper towel are best for first few days then pine bedding unscented. Also for your list you need a thermometor for brooder. And also good idea to have poly vi sol without iron baby vitamins on hand for weak chicks.

I am going to bump my humidity up to 65-70% on day .... 18? 19? I have kept mine pretty steady around 35-40% Seems the more I read the better the hatches are at the lower humidity spectrum in the beginning?

I just hope the rest do OK, I am starting to worry now that maybe the temp or humidity wasn't right.

Don't worry too much...the eggs aren't as fragile as we all seem to think they are. There are many many many variations in temp and humidity in nature, even under a broody, and they do fine!

Possible item for your list...marbles.

Some people put something shiny (marbles) into the water to help the chicks learn to drink. I just make sure I dip their beaks into the water so they know where it's at and I've not had any problems.

Has anyone used marbles?
