Halloween ~ Hatch Day!

for spaddle leg I use pipe cleaners for about 3 days. It works great and its easier to do. I put them in a box so others cant knock them over. Just be sure its not to tight aroung the leg to cut off circulation, Usually in three days it is fine. If not reapply for a couple more. You will have to help them drink but I spinkle food on the floor next to them. I also use pipe cleaners for curled toes. I make a 3 point boot and tape each toe to one

Congradulation you proud Parents!!

For those of you who are still pacing the floor waiting. It is time to find something to work on and leave the bator alone.

I find when I wait for my eggs to hatch under a broady hen, that I tend to want to help the little ones hatch..that is just not a good thing. But, when I go away and look the next day, there it is, a beautiful healthy fuzzy chick.

Hatching Chicks is kinda like getting Christmas gifts. But you must not shake the package.

Good luck to all.

I posted earlier, I think mine are not due now, maybe Nov 2. But my Serama Hens are tending to them, good little girls.

WE FINALLY HAVE A CHICK!!

One Mille has hatched! Another Mille has pips, my ONLY Lt Brahma has pipped, and 3 silkies are pipped, with one of those trying to zip!

ETA: It sure has been a loooong day!!

One was stuck in dried membrane so I had to help & then when he did make it out he shot green stuff out his little hiney...it was kinda gross. He also has a sore on his belly like the cord tore off maybe? I tended to that & he seems fine & is stumbling around.....lol Hope he is OK that kinda scared me.

I still have a little OE bantie trying to get out & he had dried membrane on him too so I had to help him & hopefully when I go back in he will be out.

I have 3 OE bantie eggs left in the bator for a later hatch.

My humidity was between 60 & 72 the whole time, so why the dried membranes? The others didn't have a problem.
