Halloween/Thanksgiving Hatch-a-Long 2019

Anyone naming their chicks spooky names or am I the only nerd who's picked out names :idunno I'm keeping 2... One will be Morticia, the other will be Wednesday. It's fitting because my chicks should be mostly black.
I'm hopeful. but not terribly optimistic about this hatch. I hadn't planned another 'bator batch, so I hadn't been turning the eggs, so .... The freshest eggs may actually be okay, but most of those are mixes - Blue splash Silkie over a Jersey Giant. That mix alone may warrant coming up with a few scary names ... but they'll be interesting!

I like him too much... He learned his lesson after I ran after him and scared him

Today he almost made me tear up... There was a beetle in the waterer so my husband threw it towards Squatch. He grabbed it, killed it then called his favorite lady over to eat it. It melted my heart. I didn't know how sweet roosters could be.

Totally understandable!! As long as he learned his lesson. From the description I thought he was vicious and nasty and mean :lau

And awww OMG that is so sweet. :love how romantic. :lau

:lau his offspring are going to be our meat chickens

:lau well I bet they’ll be tasty then! :lau

I feel really bad for my beagle. The poor thing is asleep in my $2,000 recliner while I am sitting on a broken loveseat that cost me $120 new. Poor poor puppy.

Mines in our bed snoring away. It's hard being a beagle

I have a king size bed, but he still pushes me out quite often.

LOL OMG!!

Oh my that sounds like an amazing mix! I'm not too optimistic with my eggs either just because I have no clue what I'm doing and im just following instructions from others.

The only "stupid question" is the one you are too embarrassed to ask, and it costs you something it shouldn't have ... like a safe hatch!
I asked an embarrassing question, got further embarrassed, but no answer. I learned my lesson. Never ask if a pig can fly in the quail threads.

LOL OMG!!
I don't even eat meat! I'm just raising it and processing it for my family. I may have a piece of chicken every 6 months, I don't even do dairy. It's definitely fun collecting eggs and caring for the chickens, it's so calming.
