Halloween/Thanksgiving Hatch-a-Long 2019

Beagles are trouble :gigMine ate tons of chicken feed yesterday and left a pile bigger than a cow in the yard :sick

:lau

Nasty!! Lol

My friends dogs eat their poop. :sick

I wasn't even supposed to buy the incubator! I saw it on Amazon for $40 off and I snatched the last one. I wasn't going to find a better deal anywhere else.

I put eggs on the counter and my husband told me to put them in the fridge because I have no room in the incubator. I told him they were in case some didn't do anything... He rolled his eyes

:lau I bought one in March for the Easter Hatch a long but then I never participated in it :lau

Now the incubator is sitting up there... awaiting its maiden incubation. :lau

My father calls my place "The Halfway House," because he says that no many how many legs a critter has (or doesn't have,) we are halfway between wherever it's coming from and wherever it's going to ... and it stops by. Sometimes the stopover is a few hours or days, sometimes the rest of it's life (and sometimes it's both,) but everything and everybody stops, because they know we'll feed it or heal it or just generally take care of it. Pop keeps looking for the "Hobo Sign." You know, the one that tells all the other "strays" that handouts are available, here ...

Awwww I love this!!! :love

This will probably be me some day LOL

You try it and let me know.
:D

:lau

Be careful how loudly you speak that into the universe ... :duc

Once upon a time... my husband wanted another dog. I didn’t! I think everyone knows that SPCA requires you to fill out paperwork, then return in two or three days to pick up the animal. This dog had been forgotten twice! When we walked into the room, he picked up a toy, and ran to the edge of his cage with his stubby little tail wagging furiously. He was terrified of everything and everyone in the world but us. The dog chose me as his master (it was an obvious choice), and I do believe it was fate we got him. He soon began snuggling into my jacket, and sleeping on the Harley, and he was the chick momma.
He had to be euthanized last year. I wasn’t getting another dog. 7 weeks later (October 21st), the hunters/breeders/trainers next door handed over an AKC beagle that wouldn’t hunt. Apparently I needed a dog after all.

Awwww I love this story!! Both of these stories. :love

So sorry you lost your other dog though. :( :hugs

X2!!!

So you have a beagle just like mine! Lucy hates guns and hides when she hears them. She can hunt a sock though. If you drop it anywhere in the house she will find it. She hunts mice too, but drops them once they don't squeak anymore like it's a broken toy. We have all her paperwork, $1200 these people paid for this dog with training and all then they give her away for free when she's 3... I don't get it
He is fine with the noises and actions right up to keeping on the right scent. His brother too! I’m actually expecting to get his brother soon. He was offered last December, so idk.

One by one, I lost four ducks, two hens and three roosters in a month. The animals are kept locked up now.
Wow that's crazy! I lost 2 chicks this spring and a hawk tried to take my Cochin but she got free. We got 2 Jersey Giants hoping they'd scare off stuff, it's worked so far. They watch for hawks and stuff. One always sacrifices himself and stays outside keeping watch while everyone else goes in the coop. He's fiesty though

My friends used to have a lab they had hoped to hunt with but he ended up being gun shy. :lau

He was a great dog though.

And wow that is weird!! Around here people are usually trying to sell their dogs, even mutts, for crazy prices! Or sell dogs from breeders with contracts stating they are supposed to return them if they can’t keep them. Likely because they want the money they paid back instead of just giving it back to the breeder free. Understandable but if you signed a contract...

Anyway, glad you got her!! Seems she is better off with you. :love

She's my buddy. She was so obese when we got her. The people were feeding her 8 cups of food a day :thone of those extra large slurpee cups from 7eleven twice a day! I felt so bad for her.

I was just randomly looking on Craigslist and saw her for free. I had just put down my dog the day before and it was like a sign.

Anyone naming their chicks spooky names or am I the only nerd who's picked out names :idunno I'm keeping 2... One will be Morticia, the other will be Wednesday. It's fitting because my chicks should be mostly black.
I have a Morticia (see pic below) I also have a Poe (for Edgar Allen) & any chicks born in Oct. will definitely get spookyish names.
