Halloween/Thanksgiving Hatch-a-Long 2019

@muddy75 I was about to ask where it was cause I couldn’t find it, only one much more expensive 50 gallon one, but I just found it! And WOW!! Even the 300 gallon one is only $85!! Maybe I should just get the bigger one for only a $30 difference. No way I’ll ever be able to find one for that price. Then I could use it for the outside pond too since it’d be bigger than the liner I have and you say rubber is better anyway? Idk. Thoughts on both of them? @CarpCharacin ??

Those links aren't working for me, but 50 gallons seems a little small. Additionally, I'd be worried about the humidity from a 300 gallon stock tank indoors.

Yeah, the links broke for me a little while ago too and I can’t find it on their website anymore? When I clicked the page for that category it said there are no products listed in that category?? Which is very weird cause it was just there?? They wouldn’t have taken it off the site that fast right? Maybe it just broke or something??

It’s weird cause I had the page up and it wasn’t working and then when I went back to it to buy it wasn’t there anymore!?

I’m sure the shipping would have been super expensive though.

I tried on several other websites and found some that seem really cheap but then it’s like $90+ So it ends up being expensive.

I think I might just buy it from Tractor Supply. They have it in stock and it works out slightly cheaper than buying it from the online places.

I think it’s about like $165 or something like that.

They also have a smaller 110 gallon one from a different company, not Rubbermaid, that’s only like $70 that I was thinking of buying. I know it’s smaller than the 150 but it’s a little bit more doable for me atm and seems way better than the 20 long they are in now. It would at least get them out of their current tank faster. And then I could do a big pond in the spring.

But it also doesn’t have a drain and may be less rigid/stable/quality so idk. May be better to get a Rubbermaid. They do have a 100 gallon one for like $99 too but the other brand was cheaper and slightly bigger.

And of course they have metal ones but I think a rubber would be better.

But yeah, the 50 is definitely small. I wasn’t gonna get that one, was just saying that that’s the only one I could find at first and it was like $200 or something crazy. But then I found the 150 one and the 300 one on there. But now it’s not on there so idk.

I didn’t even think about humidity. That is an excellent point. Even just with the little 20 in my room, it’s causing humidity and windows foggy sometimes.

So I should probably just go 150 or even the 100 or 110?

Or I could just buy a 75 gallon tank from Petco but then I have to buy a stand and tank filter and I think that’s probably too small too.

If I get the stock tank I can get a pond filter which would be able to be used in the pond later instead of a tank filter which I’d probably never use again. Except maybe winters I guess.

I just got a filter and paid extra for earlier delivery. 1-5 day. The 5-10 was free but I figured I shouldn’t wait that long and shipping was pretty cheap.

I was going to go to TSC and buy the stock tanks now but I think I’m going to have to wait until tomorrow. I could go now but I think I’ve put a little bit too much on my card atm cause I ordered the filter and also just ordered a bunch of hygrometers on Amazon (for my hatch) so I think I want to wait and get a different card to put it on instead. I’m sure it will be approved but I just don’t want to put too much on one card.

Plus the filter isn’t here anyway.

So I’ll get the tank tomorrow and then when the filter gets here set it up??

Sorry for the novel and also continuously derailing the thread.

Did you get your 1st set of eggs from Meyer"s? How many? What was the hatch rate? ;)
I got mine fresh from my coop. I have 2 black jersey giant roosters that breed with all my girls. 21/30 of mine hatched on my first try. I had issues with humidity, but despite the issues I still did good.

When I was doing egg-topsies 2 days later this little guy was still in its egg and really weak. It's now running around like a lunatic.

I don't necessarily love the idea of getting shipped eggs just because of the risks involved... People do it everyday and they have zero issues. I'm just always that person that gets packages that are completely destroyed. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

That would be me too. If there could/would be an issue it would be with me.

I wasn't even supposed to get these roosters but they somehow mixed up my order from the hatchery... I decided to use them for my own good.

I am going to get quail hatching eggs from Myshire in January. There aren't any local places that sell decent quail so I'll hatch my own assorted mix
