Six months is mature but ?? Mine looks much better this year with new feathers. Next year I want the silver spangled, they are so dramatic with their high contrast white and black.
Is it normal for the feathers on chicks to come in black first? I'm new to the Hamburg banties. This is the only chick I got out of shipped eggs. He/she is a citron Spangled Hamburg.
Didn't realize how long it had been since I'd posted in this thread. The six slick chicks ended up being four cockerels and two pullets, and one of each with a straight comb . There are four more of this breeding that were hatched in Grays Harbor County- I haven't heard how that worked out. I'm going to set another bunch of eggs in February or so, I hope, but by this time next year I will be in need of a SSH large fowl rooster, so any help with that will be greatly appreciated.
There were a few nice SSH-B at the Washington Feather Fanciers Fall Brisk last weekend; it's amazing to me that the Bantams are so relatively large compared to how relatively small the large fowl are!
Very Nice! Just what I'm looking for! If you still have this pattern or know someone who does, please contact me. I have sent you a private message. Thanks, Dan
