Hand raised chick now 23 weeks old started to peck me aggressively

Hi guys need a little assistance so i have 23 week pullet i hatched myself she has started to peck me if i come near here or siblinga is this hormones? Any ideas how to nip it in bud now to speak any appreciated

The short answer is, peck her back. Use your index and middle finger and thumb and jab her hard enough to make a point but not so hard as to hurt her and keep jabbing her until she moves away.

This sounds kind of funny... But! It does help to establish you as the 'rooster of the flock'. The hen will be submissive if she realises you as the rooster. That is why when many people go near their hens, the hens duck down, splay out their wings and do a little waddle. They are submitting to you, the rooster, for mating.

Yeah my adults and her sisters do .... just not her funnily enough she was one as chick always followed me and wanted to be with me lol this all 4 of them xx

Have had this happen several times, mostly with hand fed chicks often as they come of age and get spunky. It's pretty easily curbed with calm and deliberate determination.

I peck them back, on the head or anywhere I can reach, with the tips of thumb and first 2 fingers, as hard and fast as many times as I can before they get away. Well, not hard enough to hurt them, just startle them and let them you mean business. That's what another chicken would do, so they understand that kind of communication.

If that doesn't work after a couple applications, I hold them down to the ground with my hand on their back until they submit....again firmly enough to get the job done but not hurt them....add a few finger pecks and/or tug on the feathers on the back of their neck.

Yes, but roosters don't generally do this to the hens. The hens do this to the other hens. It's a pecking order thing.
No way am I trying to be like the rooster to any of my girls. My roosters can do that.

I thought roosters did peck at hens when they want to mate?
