I don't have a tutorial, but have seen how they do it themselves. If you're doing it for him, I'd imagine you'd rub the gland like they do and then spread the oil around - here's a description of how they do it that may be helpful: https://www.britannica.com/science/preen-gland.

Thanks everyone. He can't walk but scoots along he over for me to preen him but I wasn't sure it was doing its job. He was attracted by our drake. One leg permently handicapped and his neck works but his range of motion is limited. Still working with him as he is young still. About 8 weeks old. His sister and brother are full size and healthy. He is half their size and lives in our bedroom.
He has a large dog bed hesleeps in. He eats good, drinks, poops and swims. He is spoiled rotten.

Identical story to mine.Down to the dog bed in the bedroom.Cant seem to find an avian vet or any vet for that matter to look at her.My pekins are a few months already.They were all walking and then one day she completely stopped.At a loss as to what to do.

What do you feed and are you supplementing with niacin? once one is lame they need liquid B Complex [TSC} Sounds like a niacin deficiency. How long has your duckling been like this?
