Hands on hatching and help

Hi guys, have a humidity question..

So I'm incubating Marans eggs, kept them around 10% for the first 15 ish days. Tried candling but was too hard to see much of anything even with 2 flashlights. Could tell there was life though. Long story short, my temp was a little warm early on and tomorrow night at 9 pm would actually be day 21, or in other words Monday... and I currently have 3 external pips and just herd peeping! :ya My humidity is at 60%, should I try to adjust that?

TIA :wee

I'm new to this but I'd recommend leaving it as you don't wanna go into your incubator now untill they've all hatched. "LOCKDOWN" 60% is ok I kept mine at 70%

That's up to you. If you are going to be hands on, opening for any reason, I would add a wet sponge or cloth and push it up past 65% if possible. I shoot for at least 70% and use sponges in my bator.

If you are going to be hands off, leaving the incubator shut for hatch 60% can provide enough humidity. Yay! For pippers, congrats and good luck!

It didn't have a aircell the whole inside of the egg was veins! Never seen that before and I'm even more surprised it survived!

Since some malpositions pip externally and are able to hatch on their own successfully, I guess it could happen, but I don't understand it. Though it makes me think of the Swedish Flower I had that had the air cell perfectly on the side of the egg. If someone only looked on the fat end, it wouldn't be found. In order to try to get the chick to pip into the air cell, I positioned this egg on its side (so the air cell was up). I knew it had little chance of popping correctly. However, it pipped internally and progressed perfectly. Regardless, glad it made it!

Thank you guys.

I think I will go ahead and up the humidity. And since this is a "hands on" thread. Though I don't know that I will assist a hatch, I definitely take chicks out once they have fluffed up. So yay, these are from new girls I got and didn't even know if they were with a roo! :bun :p (now to catch the egg eater of the bunch :barnie)

Out of my previous hatches 9/11 were cockerel. Previous straight run chicks 11/23 cockerels. And 3 oops cockerels out of about 25 pullets. On par with average for straight run and oops, but gotta get some girls hatching in my incubator. :fl

My incubator is a brinsea octagon 20 advanced

Ahhh me too! Well, I should say, me 2. I use one as an incubator and another as a hatcher. They are awesome! The great part is that you can get your heat and humidity back up in moments. So it allows you not to stress much as you go along.

8pm tonight is day 20 for my D'uccles. I was in a rush during lockdown (nightshift) and made a mistake. When I realized it yesterday, I was able to correct it. Within 2 min I had the bottom water emptied and refilled, tray replaced, top replaced and humidity was coming back up. Though I had removed the top, humidity was at 60% in 3 min after returning the top. In my other bator is Silkies& LF Cochin eggs.

I'm one of those meddlers. If no one is zipping, I will go in quickly. This bator retains humidity. I can lift it quick and lose almost nothing. I have developed some tricks too. If you have had those malpos... you discover that you can't wait 3 days for the others. I let chicks bang around, but sometimes I have the hatcher pretty packed. After 24 hours, I will usually do a quick pull. I will time it when there aren't others zipping.

Also, I generally keep lockdown at 55-65%. Of course, when one hatches, it goes up to 80% because of the hatch.
