Hey- I don't know whether to help my ducks. I a hatching call duck eggs and today is the due date- they are all moving and can hear the occasional cheep and they internally pipped about 29-30 hours and their beaks are nowhere near the top of the egg to start internally pipping?! What shall I do? Shall I make a small hole?! Any advice and plans would be amazing !!
Shall I help them?!' Please help me xx
Still air the temp should be 101-102 taken at the top of the eggs. My temp goes down during hatch too because I open to take out the chicks among other things. What did you have the temp on with the Still??
I do not understand temperature with the still and could use help. I had it 98.5 at the bottom and approaching 102 at the top of the eggs. I did notice the temperature went down for a while at hatch to 97 or 98 at the bottom so this could have been part of my problem. too cold.
I get really nervous about the still going too high. I do keep it in a 70 degree bathroom with a heater that I run in there to keep the room temperature stable.
The eggs pipped pretty much right on time.
None of that here!!Hi, has anyone helped you?
Im still learning but I was told during "lock down" to not help them. But you have to do what you think is right.
Have you seen any progress?
LOL I'm just yanking your chain....lol I know a majority of the hatchers especially the older gen are dead serious hands on and will literally condem a person for doing anything but. And then they pass that attitude down to any hatcher they help because if your new you take the lead of those that help.Oops, did not mean to be telling to not help. Just stating that's what I was told last summer when I was doing my 1st hatch out. I had 1 eggy that was taking a while & i did help the baby. Glad I did too.
I totally get the "judgy" stuff like on Facebook. Ugh frustrating and that's acruelly how I came across this thread with my current problem egg.
So sorry if I made a mistake. I just was wanting to see if her eggs made progress is all.
♡ much ducky love here.![]()
Hope I clarified myself, again oops sorry![]()
LOL. W/a hands on old timer......lolSorry was opening bater,,what'd I miss?
Hehe, joking but I love the judgement free zone! W/out an old timer how can us newbies learn,,,?
Good luck!!Super egg-cited guys. After working out a CORRECT temp issue(fyi use more then one thermometer if hatching) getting ready to try a new batch on Thursday or Friday(the Americana laying both days or not will be deciding factor in day).
Whoop whoop!![]()
