Hands on hatching and help

Duck or chicken? What's the status of the other eggs?

Pekin duck. I took these eggs from the mothers nest because she was no longer broody. Also the eggs have different hatch dates that I don't know. I had one like this the other day it internally pipped and then just sat like that for two days so I made an air hole put it in raised the humidity and it died.

What's your temp and humidity at?

I would give it another 24 hours. My ducklings took forever to hatch. I don't have a ton of experience but I think I remember @RavynFallen saying 48 hours can be common with ducklings....
Ok. Thanks.

Double check with some other people, but I think you can lower that temp a little.

Alright. I'll go lower it right now. Thank you.

First 2 beautiful OEGBs are in the brooder, pips #1 and #3. Pip #2 was an assist at 24 hours, it just kicked out on its own, after about a half hour rest. Its sticky!! Yuck. But its good now!

One chocolate orp has hatched under the broody, then one in my bator. I saw she had another pip and I have 4 more pips with one starting to zip.

Gonna be a long night, and even longer day tomorrow. I only wish I could call off work.

Congrats!

How long should I wait after the internal pip before I should assist? It's been roughly 24 hours since the internal pip but still no external pip.

For chickens I give 24 hours before beginning, but with ducks, most of the experienced hatchers here will tell you they can take another 24 hours to progress.

Yup

Don't lower it just because I suggested it, do your research and find out what other people do.

I don't lower my temp at hatch, but, I often find because I am so hands on I usually loose a degree anyway. Plus, I don't leave my chicks in the bat or for an extended amount of time either.

Don't lower it to much. 99.5 is ideal. Your humidity is a bit high. I'd try about 65 percent. If you plan on opening it alot you can increase the humidity to closer to 70 percent.

Many people drop the temps a degree at hatch. I'm not one that intentionally does, but many sources of hatching info will instruct to drop a degree or two at hatch time. I up my humidity to 75% at hatch. I don't worry about humidity shooting up at hatch as long as there is no condensation in the bator.

Temps mentioned (99.5 or less) are for forced air incubators. I wouldn't go less than the 99 degrees even at hatch in a still air.

I understand I've been reading for the past hour, from what I've read you're right the temperature is a bit high so I set it to 99.4 because I notice it tends to go about 1-2 degrees higher than what I have it set as.

Yeah I have eggs in the bator that are younger and still need turning so I'll keep the humidity the same just so that when I open it throughout the day it doesn't get too low.

I'm gonna give it another day, I went to turn some other eggs and I heard peeping so hopefully there will be an external pip sometime today.
