Hands on hatching and help

Thanks! I'm very, very happy that they all came back. I really thought the last girl was a goner because they never split up and I had walked those woods as far as they go and saw nothing. I can't believe how attached I've gotten to these little guys but they are like my babies now. I still need to sell some but I'm in no rush because I love them all so much!
Wv-I'm glad yours came back too! I'm wondering if maybe something spooked them into the woods and that's how the one got seperated. The ducks are very keen on any threats. They knew there was a hawk around before I did the other day. I'm used to the silkies that are totally, 100% oblivious to any threats!!

That's funny you say that my silkie roosters are really alert. Even more so then my standards the same age. I was worried about letting them roam our backyard but they spot the hawks before the others do. Their crest aren't near as big as your guys though lol

I have one now that up until today I was really undecided on the sex. No crowing, no big comb but he has streamers. I was leaning toward boy but he looks so girlish. Today I saw him mate one of the girls! So I picked him up and I parted his crest and really checked out his comb. It's small but it's there. I picked up a couple girls and looked and felt their combs and they really had nothing to feel compared to him. Look at the pics of this guy (it's definitely a boy) but I swore he was a girl!

Maybe I aught to double check a couple of the white/paints then. Cause a couple of them I swore were going to be boys but they don't have the comb I see on the others. They are also small like my known girls. My boys are much bigger and heavier than my girls, but my paint boys aren't as big as Shadow (black) and Blooie (gray/blue/silver)

I love them! How big do they get?

They are a smaller/lighter bird and they lay a medium sized white egg. I'd say, bigger than a Banty, slightly smaller than most standards.

Looking at all your guys pics I think he is a boy. I think his fluff was just throwing me off because he is twice as fluffy as my confirmed roosters. Plus he is the only one who hasn't crowed yet lol. :)

My black roo is really fluffy, my grayish one is medium and the paint males almost look more more like a non bearded than a bearded silkie.

My toe pecker, is alert to anything that moves on the ground in front of him. He's so funny. If you go in the pen at mid day when the sun is behind you and it casts a shadow, he'll start pecking at your shadow before you're even all the way in.

The paints come from a smaller line. When I got my first paint trio I could not believe the girls were a year old. They looked like my 5-6 month olds.

That would explain a lot.

I can't wait till mine hatch. So far it looks like I have 12 developing! I'm so excited. Especially seeing all these pics!! :)

I said I was gonna stop hatching, and now I'm gonna do WH for the Halloween HAL, lol. So much for stopping. But they will be the last ones of the year, and I mean it!
