Well they made it to lock down with 2 questionable but still seeing movement, got one rolling it's egg around in the incubator like a race track, guess we know we got one rebel in the bunch the others move but are not acting like a spazz all over the place lol. crossing my fingers all goes well as not sure what happened day 19 and 20 all 11 eggs disappeared mysteriously, no indication of chicks or eggs.

If it pips in the wrong spot.

Normal position, the external pip should be along the lower left side of the air cell (if you had the egg standing on its point, with the lowest side of the dip in the air cell facing you). Anywhere along the air cell line or above is fine, but if it pips down toward the pointy end, it is likely malpositioned.

Usually when it makes the external pip. However, some malpositioned chicks are not upside down. There are different positions that are considered malpositioned. Basically any position other than the normal head at air cell, tucked under right wing, beak up is considered a malpositioned position. Mostly though when malpositioned is talked about, people are referring to the fact the chick didn't pip into the air cell first, often pipping mid to bottom of egg.

Sometimes more experienced hatchers can get a sense of whether a chick is not in the correct position by candling, but even then the assumption isn't always right. I have, on a few occurrences deduced a chick wasn't positioned right at hatch time when candling, because the normal movement at the air cell prior to pipping wasn't there. I've been right more than wrong, but there's been a couple times I was fooled too and it was just a slow proggresser.

I said I was gonna stop hatching, and now I'm gonna do WH for the Halloween HAL, lol. So much for stopping. But they will be the last ones of the year, and I mean it!

I never heard back about the shipped eggs I was going to get so I deep cleaned all my incubators and put them in the boxes and away in the closet. You know that means that now I'll get offered eggs I can't refuse!!
