Never heard of a blood island before but it looks like a quitter to me. Could just be a late start. I always give them a few weeks before I toss eggs just to be safe..

he blood island is the start of development. Just started to see a little being in the middle so im thinking a late starter i hope.

Both. Yes, I believe it is a quitter and what you are seeing is the remanents of the blood island after the development has quit.

Edited to add, I don't remove mine until I pull my clears at day 10 usually.
