Hands on hatching and help

I was just thinking about how quiet it's been here lately too! You've got stuff going - liven it up!!

Lol! How about some unrelated chicken advice, since my eggs aren't very exciting?

I had to handfeed my parrot when I first got him a month and a half ago but he was nearly weaned so I didn't go through much of the formula at all. I cannot tell you how handy that stuff has been for the chickens. First I used it to save my little naked neck cockerel from a bout of the weirdest impacted crop/sour crop ever because it was liquid food and still passed through the crop. I also just had to use it to save a silkie chick that was having problems. It was huddled and not moving so I scooped it up, brought it in, pumped a syringe full of the formula into it and now it's up and around and fine and eating and drinking with gusto. So it wouldn't be a bad idea to pick some up to have on hand. It lasts for a long time.

Can't say as I've ever seen bird formula. What brand? Does TSC or the like sell it? Or pet stores like Petsmart?

It's super quiet in here! Anyone have anything in the incubator? I've got some due the end of this week and then I'm likely done for the year.

More Ayams?

I was going to say......

Pretty much this....lol

Petsmart should have it. Kaytee brand is considered by most to be the best brand. Or you can get some on Amazon too. I got a big tub for something like $8.

But you answered this...so I didn't need to quote all that ^ after all...lol

After 4 1/2 weeks of raising these $!?$ guineas, my sister came and picked them up today. Of course I threatened all week that if they weren't gone by the end of today I was going to advertise them for sale and keep the money seeing as how I bought both bags of food, was using my bedding and having to care and clean them. My nephew is lucky his mommy took care of it, cause I wasn't joking either.

In other news. Egg production is so down now.... I collected 4 eggs today...lol mid summer I was getting on average 19 a day. Then I had 4 go broody and half of them started laying in secret spots I couldn't find and I was getting about a dozen a day. Then we started loosing daylight and I have been getting 7 or 8. Now 4.

Yep, more ayams! Probably my last for the year, although if the girls lay through the winter I may do a batch or two. Perhaps for the NYD hatchalong - but then that wouldn't be this year would it? So I'd still have been done for the year :p

True...lol unless you have early hatchers. But you'd still be incubating another batch this year even if they waited until the first.
