Hands on hatching and help

Just getting all the kiddos in bed and I'm gonna open it up and see what's going on. Can they really peep before internally pipping??? I always thought not until they were breathing in oxygen through the air cell. Wow. See, I keep learning!
WV! I'm so sorry...I have not even asked you what's going on!! It's been a long day, sorry. How's the mama doing??

:fl hoping you find something good. How are the ones that already hatched looking? Good quality?

I checked momma a few hours ago, didn't see any chicks or hear any peeps yet, but she is sitting tight, doing fine.

The pip in the incubator is a little wider now, so I think it's about to get started. Yeah!

So just the 1 external pip? Any internals? Usually as soon as they start making that pip bigger it's zip time!

I opened up the egg and lubed it up. Heavy veining still. But his beak was in the air cell, just down toward the middle of the egg, where the air cell meets the egg. I want to move all the rest of the chicks out and into the brooder. Think it will be ok to leave that egg in there solo? Oh and yes, some of the chicks look like very nice quality. I gotta get a pic of this one because he/she has a huge crest with tons of hair!! Looks like a chick with a wig on!!

Would need x-ray bino's to go through the wall. Living room to sewing room

And surprised you ain't got those too! :lau

That's what I was thinking! Plus I can keep the humidity up higher without all those fluff balls in there! I'll get pics tomorrow. My almost 2 year old keeps sitting down in front of the brooder and holding out his hand flat saying "hold, mommy, hold"...I keep telling him he has to wait till tomorrow because they need their rest. Lol.

Yea, I agree with Ravyn, I think I'd move the others. I fired up the 2nd Brinsea instead of my brooder, if this first one hatches soon, I'll move it to the other bator.

Only the 1 external pip, but I can see good drawdown in the others and I think a few internals. I'm conflicted, because this external pip is now 26 hours, it's right along the edge of the air cell, but it doesn't look like the chick has moved into the air cell! I can still see the majority of the air cell, still all open space.

I did not run temps high this time, so I didn't expect any pips early. Not sure why this one pipped so soon, and no others yet, so I'm debating whether to assist or not. I think I'm gonna go to bed, and set an alarm for a couple more hours, then decide. Still 7 hours before its technically day 20. :/

Wasn't it low on the egg too? I'm thinking it was an 'oops' pip... like it did it's internal and external pip at the same time, so should double the wait time to 48hrs... right?
