Hands on hatching and help

:celebrate

Eggs in it yet :D

Lol no, I guess I'm going to wait until morning. That way I have all day to watch and make sure it comes back up to temp. It's right where I want it now. I had to put a couple wet sponges in. Our house humidity is only 16% One sponge brought it to 25%, but I want it a little higher for the silkies. So I will monitor it tonight and make sure it's steady, then if so, eggs are going in first thing tomorrow and I'll add any they lay tomorrow as well.

Dang! You go! Lol I bought the Hovabator 1583.
It's up to temp and staying steady. Got 4 thermometers in there....lol The humidity got a bit higher than I want so I took that 2nd sponge back out. I'm curious as to how it's going to be once I get the eggs in there tomorrow. I can say I absolutely LOVE

That's just one cabinet . I need to fill the other one as soon as I have enough eggs . Some body was saying on another thread that the length of daylight was the sole factor in egg production . I think that's a lot of bull . We're having cold nights and warm nights and even with the longer days my hens are up and down on laying the EEs are out laying all the other breeds . The SLWs are next and the Marans are not laying many at all .Problem is EEs don't sell good the eggs do but the chicks don't . I was all excited I got a CLB egg two days in a row that was three days ago

BTW I like them fuzzy footed chicks you got .

1583? Not 1588? Don't think I've seen the 1583. I like the view on my FI too, and it's still air, so I can actually hear peeping! The Brinseas are quiet, but still overpower light peeps.

And yes, I still have the lavs. They aren't laying worth a %#*$. I'm waiting for about 10-12 eggs within a decent time frame, but I need to set some soon! Customers wanting them and the girls are freeloading. I did change roosters last fall. Have 2 sons in there now.

I agree bull! My ones that have been laying well will skip cooler days. I got several less eggs today, it's been cold for a couple days. I also think they lay better after some free range time, but I've had so many haybale sightings, I haven't been letting them out unless I can stay with them.

The fuzzy footed ones are some of the prettiest chicks I've ever hatched. Don't tell hubby that these aren't showing up on CL :D
