I would suggest reading up on crested though... if you have crested drakes, I wouldn't keep crested hens... or if you have crested hens, I wouldn't keep crested drakes... cresting is caused by a hole in the skull that tissue pokes out of... it *can* lead to neurological issues and breeding crested to crested is asking for those plus much DIS...

Thank you for the info on the crested and breeding them.. Good to know since I now have 2 of them. Oldest is female youngest to young to tell. Both Pekin.

Wow it amazes me that some people pack eggs the way they do

Reminds me of a shipment I received last month except my package just had newspaper in it and eggs laying on sides. Unfortunately, none of those eggs developed.

I'll be keeping fingers crossed that your eggs are ok and you'll get some nice Calls!

I know! As soon as I felt how light the box was I was scared. Then when I reached my hand into the popcorn and pulled the first egg out upside down, I cringed!! But I think I will get some babies from this batch. I'm very excited!! I've never seen a duck hatch in person!!

It should not look bloody and wet like that. Is it trying to zip on its own? Can you take it out of the incubator quickly and get a picture? That way we might be able to see what's going on better

I don't dare open the incubator right now with so many other eggs with external pips. I have an EE egg that has a pip that I just noticed has a bit of blood around the pip too. I am home today so going to keep a close eye on them all.

And we have an unexpected and very welcomed Cream Legbar! She/he looks a little rough and nasty but he's active - just kinda goopy looking.

And in another episode of "as the incubator turns", in a surprise move there was a pip in a Cream Legbar egg a bit ago. One minute it wasn't there, the next minute I could see his/her beak! Unexpected, to say the least! And now that little one is almost completely zipped.

Ok, sounds good. What incubator are you using and what's your humidity been days 1-18 and your lockdown humidity? And temps? Are they hatching early?

There was one that hatched yesterday (day 20) and there have been 5 more hatched today with no issues. Humidity day 1-18 was about 30% and has been about 45-50% at lockdown with it hovering more at 60% today with all the hatching going on. It is a farm innovaters 4250 circulated air incubator. There are a lot of eggs with normal looking external pips, these are the only two I am worried about since I see blood in both and one seems extra wet. I did open and slip it in an egg cup as previously suggested and can see a lot of moisture soaking into the cardboard egg cup from the egg that is extra wet. I don't want to make things worse but I don't want to let a chick die if it is something I screwed up with humidity/temps etc.. temp was at 99.5 almost on target almost all of the 1-18 and read to lower to 98.5 for hatch and it has been going back and forth between 98.5 to 99 since hatching started last night.

I'm down to one call egg and nervous that by miracle it will actually hatch and I'll have a lone duckling!! And thank you for the compliment. Now I've heard amazing things about this breeder and she ships every spring. She's extremely knowledgeable about shipped eggs (she's the one that wrote those emails I forwarded to you on shipping/turning). So I did not think I would need to check on her packing. Lesson learned. I think if she would have packed the way I did and the way Ravyn does the eggs would have been in great condition. See you never know. Ravyn packed amazing and the post destroyed them. This breeder packed upside down and flimsy and the damage looks workable. I was going to complain until I saw how many extras she sent! Made up for it!

Hopefully you'll have more in 4 weeks and as little as those stay, but as fast as they grow, you might be ok with a loner for a bit. Ugh.

Im kinda scared should I have moved the eggs somewhere else because I have turkey egg in their and still needing to be turned I really hope they hatch and are fine. Should I raise the humidity its at 50% now? Thanks for all the help! Also one more thing how do you know if there was an internal pip?

If you are in lockdown yes, I'd make sure the humidity is at LEAST 65%
