Hands on hatching and help

Okay. I opened a few eggs to see what was going on and they definitely died in the early stages. Im thinking that it had something to do with my temp. There was a day that i put a different thermometer in because i didnt trust the one that was in it and it was reading at 106! I freaked out and turned it down so my thought is that was the point that killed them. I refuse to quit and im going to get a new batch and buy a new thermometer and humidity monitor. Hopefully the next group will make it.

What's the weather like where u live? If it's been super rainy or wet, maybe try running dry throughout the first couple weeks or so, of course always monitor air cells ..but I have much better luck that way..

I'm definitely doing more research before the next batch. It can be wet and the humidity is pretty average. Great advice! Thank you!

going shopping friday, been doing spot checks all around the incubator with the accurite and the built in, dry humiduty getting 16% and think that is probably more accurate than the built ins 40-45 in same spot, but found the issue I believe moving built in and the accurite at same spots around incubator, fan is working but not dispersing the heat properly, it's 102- 103 1 row around and under the element and fan, 97 2 rows away to edge. do I need to add another fan in there or a bigger one.

Did this for 2 days same results
exterior temp is 70-75 with a 20% humidity

I use 2 mercury candy thermometers, and this for humidity and temp..honestly..I couldn't tell u what humidity my incubator or hatcher is or has been.. I run dry in the incus, and depending on air cells when I move them to the hatcher, I either don't add water until I get a pip, or add a wet cloth, and sometimes I only mist the walls of the hatcher.. we've had rain for what seems like a month straight, flooding and no end in sight.. probably won't be doing much more than misting the insides the next couple hatches... I base humidity entirely on air cells and my weather (for reference, I'm located in North central WV)

I have found, that my most reliable thermometers and hygrometers have been those I bought at the pet store in the reptile section if that helps any..that one above is for reptiles too..sorry the flash made it hard to read..wanna say name brand is zoo med??? I'll see if it says anywhere

Ok..has a website on it..www.zilla-rules.com

Can you use chicken wire or a small carrier to separate them from each other but still be close

I probably could, but someone would either get stuck or knock it over or something disastrous. . I just turned down the lights in my bedroom , so all the chicks in the brood went in the chick cave for bed and I just slipped him in the middle of the pile.. figure at this point with zero additional shrinkage in the hatcher it's too moist in there..he has a better chance of it drying and not getting infected in the brooder.. I hung some chick blocks from the sides, so hopefully they'll have plenty ty to do when they wake up and won't notice little man walking around with a ball hanging off his bum

Hello everyone. I had a major medical emergency with my youngest son a couple days ago. Fortunately he is home and doing much better today. I tried to catch up here and there today but It never happened. I will just jump in tomorrow morning. Please let me know if I missed anything important. Haven't even gone through my emails or PM's yet...
