And my little NN. She has the strangest little tufts of fluff right under her ears, tiny little black tufts. You can just see one of them in this picture.

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. I'll keep 'em in the Brinsea, but I think I'll keep the FI going anyway. If it looks like it's getting too rough in there, I can transfer the chicks to it and let them finish drying off without knocking everything else in the Brinsea to kingdom come.
Humidity hasn't been a big problem in the Brinsea so far. It rises and falls a bit, but there aren't any drastic swings. I calibrated the hygro using the salt/water/baggie method, and this one was easy to adjust to get it where it should be reading after several hours in the bag. Thermometers are a whole 'nuther ball game. Not one of them reads exactly the same. I've come to the conclusion that digital wireless thermometers that also show tenths of a degree just can't be calibrated accuritely. I drowned one transmitter because I forgot to put it in the Ziplock bag which was laying right next to the ice water. Did the other ones and they were all a full degree off, or more.
So if I ever do this incubating thing again, I won't do it until I find the perfect glass bulb thermometer. I'm a woman on a quest!! In the meantime, I have no clue what's happening inside those eggs right now. Hatch day isn't technically until tomorrow, so patience, Grasshoppah.![]()

My flock apparently didn't read the chicken rules about anything, trying to get some eggs to eat and sell and seems only got 1-3 laying outta 17 lol cause everyone wants to sit on eggs

Gotta love the teen stage, lol... plus, as a loner he will be a lot more stubborn... and spoiled means he'll think he can always get his way, lol...
WV, it was just discussed on the sex linked color thread... using blue with barred *might* cause indistinct head spots... but... if Katherine is for sure the mom, then all of her boys will feather out barred, and all her girls will not be barred... you just might have to wait to see some feathers first to make sure, but that will stay true...

I'm getting ready to put eggs down on the mesh in the incubator saturday is day 15, a bit worried did a candle the other day and one of the ameracuanas eggs looks to be twins, didn't see a double yolk though when I sat them.

No progress yet on the earlier pippers, but two more have decided that sounded like fun and joined in. Temp is stable, humidity is good, peeping and rocking, so I'm just sitting back with a book. In the same room as the incubator. On the same side of the room as the incubator. In a chair right in front of the incubator. With my face at the window of the incubator. Not reading my book.![]()
