Actually it's still air. It has a digital thermometer but I had a glass thermometer in there to double check. I think I'll throw another thermometer in there, just to be safe!!

I'm trying to remember but I think your temp was a little low for still air..? It's supposed to be a little higher, 101-102 at the top of the eggs. And I love this video for calibrating glass thermometers. http://blog2.thermoworks.com/2010/10/making-a-proper-ice-bath/

Sday615, Don't feel bad--- I am Not newbie and I Have Never Candled a egg and seen a internal pip-----I have candled 1000's and 1000's and 1000's and have had as many as 949 eggs incubating in the incubator at one time and I Have set 72 broody hens in just the past year or so and I have never even looked to see if there was a internal pip----never had the desire to look for that.

No desire!! Lol!! I couldn't wait to see my first internal pip!! Btw-I need to visit you on the broody thread. I'm having this worst broody mamas this spring.

I'm totally on board with having the right setup first, I'm just impatient lol

We have a ton of predators here so we have to build everything heavy-duty for all the birds. Everyone has covered runs- double fenced with buried wire, raised coops and locks on everything. It takes awhile to finish them but it's well worth it

I had someone contact me tonight that purchased chicks a few months ago. They had a mixed flock of all different breeds, all started from chicks this year (18 total) and a fox got in and got every single one! He's devastated! I felt so bad for him. Just reminded me that you are so right. It's worth it to do it right the first time.

We finally were able to get the young uns out for half a day today!!! I can't wait until the coop is freed up so they can make the permanent move. Hoping for this weekend. Waiting on my sister to pick up the big roo and the 4 silkies and then going to attempt to mix the other 3-4 to the other coop. That will give me a dedicated coop and run for my silkies/nns. Got lots of pics, (Then lost my camera in the toilet. At least the card wasn't damaged.) But I am not going to fill the thread 2 days in a row. Shipped call duck update: I made safety holes in the two that were internally pipped because I'm going to bed and checked on the one who pipped by himself. 1 more egg is alive and working hard but no internal yet. here's some pics...

Oh! Amy I been waiting to ask someone do those longer red trough feeders works?(to keep poo out of food)? Got frustrated with some beaks needing trimmed so made ours,that way they trim them themselves,,still always wondered bout long red feeders.

Whew this thread has been busy today lol. I can hardly keep up. I candled my ancona duck and silkie eggs today. It's only day 3 so just a quick glance while I was turning them. They looked really good though. So far over half of them are already starting to vein and I saw the heartbeat in one.

It sure is! And trust me, Calls are worth the wait!

Had a cemani chick hatch this morning - it is stunning Black toes, black toenails, black mouth - I'll be keeping that one, that's for sure. I'm seeing a higher instance of birds that hatch this dark this year, so I must be heading in the right direction.

Sweet!!! Maybe the one mixed was just a fluke... glad you're results are going in the right direction!

Awesome! That's a great pic of an internal pip too. I sure hope Mavis gets some siblings this time! Anxious for your morning update!

Day 14 candle for me last night. I kinda stopped taking candling pics, I had so many lol... but this latest set, I am amazed at how bold and strong the blood vessels look. Its so humid, my humidity is running around 32-35% completely dry, and I wish the air cells were a tad bigger, but I think everything will be ok. All 13 Golden Sebright and all 5 lavender orpingtons still going strong!
