As long as her food and water stay deep enough she can make it! I had one as a child and she was my favorite. She lived a long life. And laid eggs every day!

Any advice on what to do with this? It hatched about 7 hours ago.![]()

Also this one is very much alive, but has goo that keeps coming out and sticking to the shell and baby.
Poor baby!!! I would wrap it up and put it in a cup so it can't move around. And give it some time to absorb the rest of the yolk.
Thanks, I had it wrapped and put in a bowl but it kept climbing out. I don't have anything tall enough that fits in the incubator. Should I take it out?
I'm sorry, but you are rushing in and helping too soon! Be prepared, they likely won't survive.![]()
I would not recommend taking it out of the incubator yet. At least try to keep it confined to a small area, on towels where it can't burst that sac open.
I didn't help the one with the yoke, it came out on its own.. my incubator isn't working and they were all stuck to well over 24 hours after pipped.. they all have been doing excellent except this one. I have 13 hatched out of 16. When I finally started helping they were all almost wrapped on the bill with membrane, 2 gasped as soon as I peeled it off them. I do appreciate the help and knowledge, I have been going extremely slow. They all pipped on the 28th
Wow, I'm sorry, I've never seen one hatch on its own like that. I mistakenly assumed, so I apologize.![]()
Still, I'd keep it in the bator where its safest, and on something soft. Safe from others pecking at it, and safe temperature-wise, since in a brooder they can go where its comfortable to them, this one may need more controlled temps for a while.
I've got a malpositioned chick. It pipped the wrong side of the egg facing away from the air cell. It survived the initial bleeding so I've got my fingers crossed that it'll make it out on its own. I'm keeping a close eye on it though.
