Hands on hatching and help

Well, here we go with bad news and good news.

Good news: Two Calls are hatched, both assisted, and the three malpos are still with me. Two I was able to find the beaks on and get them air. The third's head is really deep into the egg but I think I've made a passageway down to it through the membrane and it can breathe.

Bad news: Four Calls turned to start zipping, blocked off their air, and suffocated :( And one malpo looks deformed. But if it has a will to survive and its deformities aren't life ending, I'll keep it as a pet if it can make it to hatch and live afterwards.

I was telling one of my non chicken friends about having to stick my finger up a hen's (prolapsed) vent to help her with an egg bound egg that was tearing the vent...yeah, probably should have kept that story to my chicken friends....lol
I have found my non-chicken friends just have no idea, they prob think I am a little nuts but that's ok..

I hate to ask but I don't have the time to go through all the threads for an answer I have an issue with two eggs both have piped yesterday but no farther one looks like it didn't open all the way should I try to help or not? The other is a little more open but no movement can be detected should I assist or not

It's a hard and personal decision.
If your humidity and temperatures were good, they may just be resting. If the humidity was low and membranes look dry, they may need help. I do tend to worry that if I wait too long it may be too late. Trust your instincts, that's the best any of us can do.

I opened the pip up to make sure air could enter as soon as I did it started chirping so I tried a little bit got a touch of blood used some flower and put it back I had the other that I opened also it sounded weak but I didn't go any further I had one that had zipped partialy about 2 hrs ago so I got it started zipped it around and placed it back in the incubator got the humidity back up to norms in a minute so I'm hoping that it was ok

Here is the best I could get. It is very wiggly. It looked a little bloody so I put some cornstarch on it and now the poult is up and moving around real well. The rest of my hatch is done. Last 2 viable eggs pipped internally, but died.
It looks like it is getting dark colored, maybe turning black and going to fall off? Poult is moving around real good in the incubator now. I don't want to put it in my little hospital box and start talking to it and have to cull it.

Hi There!
So I am posting up pics of my air cells for ducks and chicks at the end of day 10. @AmyLynn2374 I have been keeping my humidity at 50-55% due to high altitude and air cells growing too fast last year...it seems to be working so far

Anyway...any feed back would be great!!! I am excited for these babies to hatch

The pencil is the first air cell I measured..red is the 10 day

Duck egg #1

Duck egg #2

Chick egg #1

Chick egg #2

I saw development in 5 of my duck eggs, 20 of my bantam chick eggs and 5 in the quail eggs...I think..LOL! those babies are tough to candle!
Thanks!!!!

It was actually four malpos, not three. Sadly I've lost two. The other two are hanging in, including the deformed one.
